Dry, unseasoned chicken and waffles with soggy batter. I don't know how you screw that up.

It was very busy but my friends and I were treated professionally and the drinks were great along with the lively atmosphere. I'll go back soon.

AVOID THIS PLACE! Came for an NYU event mid-week at lunch. Was greeted somewhat rudely: "you need to give a name, that's like me saying my name is White Oak Tavern". The place was not bustling with people, and this hasn't been an issue at other locations for similar events. Turned out this was just the canary in the coal mine. Service was much worse. After 20 minutes, asked the waiter if he could take our order as he walked by our table. Made a rude face, and said he would be back later. It turned out virtually every benign interaction was an affront: when we order the food, just get a passive aggressive "okay", when one party member asks if they can turn down the very loud music, just get a screwed up face, and no response. Had to ask someone else. Asked for the check, same affronted response. Then had to chase them down after waiting another 30 minutes for them to charge the card. There was someone other than our main server, dressed differently, who would occasionally come by when food was ready, etc., who had a much worse attitude than even the server.

And I haven't even gotten to the food: terrible! Got the chicken pie, a supposed specialty. Runny and somewhat hollow inside, and tasted very average, the kind of food that could have been frozen for a few weeks and heated up. How is that $25? Another got grilled fish, looked very mediocre and unappetizing. Sticky toffee pudding, not moist, have had much better. The servers didn't seem to have any enthusiasm for the food, or whatever it is they're doing there. And, honestly, I can't blame them. This place doesn't have a great purpose. I left feeling sick from the people and the food, and with acid reflux the rest of the day.

This seems like the kind of place that largely rides on its location and proximity to NYU for group events, etc. I'll make sure that NYU stops booking here. There are many places in the area that take both the food and respectful service much more seriously.

Beautiful spot, all day happy hour which is great...our waitress and hostess were amazing. It was my birthday and they brought me the best piece of cake I've ever had..ever. Will revisit, which says something in a city full of great restaurants.
