Over 40 years and still great!

Loved it — everything was delicious, and the vibe is classic Chinatown energy. A true NYC institution (it first opened in 1938) and often called the second-oldest restaurant in Manhattan’s Chinatown, just behind Nom Wah. There are no frills—just reliable, flavorful dishes that stand the test of time. Definitely one of the best spots for late-night Chinese comfort food. Can’t wait to go back!

I dont understand the high rating of this restaurant and how they said that the food were great. We ordered the salt and pepper porkchop, the pork had a weird taste, it seemed that the pork were no longer fresh. Then the shrimp canton noodles and yang chow fried rice, though they looked dark from the soy sauce it tasted bland. You can also tell that the shrimps that they used were frozen ones. Then lastly the lobster with ginger sauce. This one we felt that we got ripped off. We first ordered for the crab with ginger sauce. It cost around $20. Then the waiter told us that they no longer had the crabs and only the lobsters were available. We asked how much was it and said it was $35. So we ordered that. When it was served, half of it were CRABS!! and there was only 1 small lobster which they cut into 4 small pieces. I felt we were deceived on this for us to pay a higher price. (You can check the pictures and try to find the lobster in it). If they no longer have crabs, why is it that we have it on the lobster?? Anyways the only consolation that we got was that the sauce was good. We were dismayed because a lot of people were praising this resto for good chinese food and yet our experienced were the opposite.

Quite the Chinatown experience! The menu offered an over abundance of Chinese cuisine. I ordered the Sesame Chicken. The portions are large, matches the price. ? If you visit at a busy mealtime, expect a wait, it’s a small restaurant. CASH ONLY.

Parking: You’ll have to find a parking spot on the street. It may be difficult due to the location in Chinatown.

Kid-friendliness: It’s a small restaurant so not much room for a stroller or high chair. Casual atmosphere

A disappointing meal after much anticipation!! Location and restaurant itself was very authentic but we thought the food itself was bland (we got spicy duck, honey chicken) spring rolls also bland, batter thick and stodgy, same with the dumplings. Tasted ok when soy sauce++ added, vegetables cooked perfectly and reasonably priced. Wouldn't recommend

90 years old and still going strong. Great Chinese food, as authentic as possible. We had soup, duck fried rice, roast pork lomain, and black bean squid, spear ribs one beer. It's extremely tasty and fresh as it's all made to order. Bit pricey I thought, $94 for 3, but then the last time I was here was 30+ years ago. Definitely be back!
