Xi’an Famous Foods is my go-to spot whenever I crave something spicy, bold, and deeply satisfying. Their flagship location in Chinatown always delivers. The first thing I ordered was their hand-ripped noodles with spicy lamb – and wow, it did not disappoint. The noodles are chewy and perfectly textured, clearly made in-house. The lamb is fragrant with cumin and chili oil, and the spice level is high but well-balanced. It’s not the kind of heat that overwhelms – it builds and lingers in the best way. I also tried the spicy cumin burger, which was messy but delicious. What I appreciate most is the consistency – I’ve been to a few of their locations and the quality never slips. The interior is functional, not fancy, but that’s fine by me. You’re here for the food, not the ambiance. Prices are very reasonable for the amount and flavor you get, and service is quick and efficient. It’s the kind of place you keep coming back to once you discover it. Whether you’re a noodle fanatic or just love bold Chinese flavors, Xi’an Famous Foods is a must-try.

Ordered a Liang Pi Cold Skin noodle with mild spice and a Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles with least spicy and less oil. If you can handle your spice, definitely go for the regular spice levels. The liang pi is a refreshing plate even for spring with cold noodles, tofu, and greens that are calming and pleasant. The mild level spice is find though I would recommend ordering spicier. The Lamb noodles were delicious with thick cuts of lamb on top. It’s a bit hard to chew on the lamb but otherwise, it was a very pleasant noodle dish. The staff here are very efficient with preparing meals, ordering food is all done with digital kiosks.

My go to spot for spicy hand pulled noodles. Being vegetarian I love their N8 noodles.

Following them on social media, I never realized a location was minutes away from my office. Came on by after work on a weekday to try Xi'an out.
Located more 'in the cut' of a smaller block in lower Manhattan. Clean indoor, they have two kiosks to order from and you can order from a person too. Offer areas to eat inside, not a large space but just enough.
I decided to go ahead and try their famous Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand Ripped Noodles. I went with regular spice level at first, but after talking with the guy at the front and trying their chili oil, I decided to up to extra spicy. Paid just over $15 with tax.
Comes in a plastic container, they give you a plastic bag and you can pick up utensils on your way out. The portion is enough for two, maybe three, eats. The chili oil can stain, so beware if you bring home to have.
The lamb was delicious, thin cuts and great flavor. I wondered if they kept me at a regular spice level, because I was expecting to be blown away by spicy flavors but just got little hits here and there. The noodles were delicious as well and the vegetables they include were fresh and crunchy. I ordered mine without cabbage.
Will likely return to try other menu options, I have my eye on the dumplings.

Tried the Extra spicy lamb Biang Biang noodles and yes it was decently spicy, I was shitting bricks the next day but it was worth.
You also get a lot more of the szechuan pepper flavour with the extra spicy.
Noodles were thick and had a good chew, would recommend.

As a customer who has the same name as the boss, I also eat saozi noodles in my hometown. I visited Xi'an Famous Food when it was still a run-down shop, and I thought it was pretty good. Many years later, when I came to New York, I found that the old stores were gone and many new ones had opened. I ordered Qishan Saozi Noodles. Frankly speaking, the noodles were very strong, but the taste was a bit strange and the taste was so bad. Maybe to satisfy the appetite of foreigners?
