This is as authentic Japanese BBQ as you can get outside of Japan! The cleanliness, extremely appreciative and friendly service takes me back to tokyo, which i miss. All the food is FANTASTIC, possibly the best beef tongue I've ever had. Come now, before word gets out and you have to wait a month!! Seriously.

Came here for my husband birthday because he wanted to eat yakiniku. Kitchen looked unsanitary and smelled garbage and we were sat by the smelly kitchen.
I didn’t eat salad or raw veggies because I wasn’t sure if it’s handled properly or cleaned….
My husband enjoyed their drinks and food which was good… but I told him no more yakiniku at this place lol

We got the wagyu tasting course which was discounted for the holiday, and everything was served so beautifully and tasted incredible. The service was extremely friendly, and I can’t wait until I can come back!

Interesting experience. From the outside, Yakiniku Gen looks like a Japanese yakiniku restaurant, but the menu leans heavily Korean—kimchi, cold noodles
We ordered beef tongue ($30 for 4 slices) and a small meat platter (~$90), both decent in flavor. But for the price, it felt hard to justify—especially with such plain interior decor.
Service was okay, but overall the value just wasn’t there.
Not somewhere I’d revisit.

Really good Japanese bbq, authentic, fun, high quality. This is a red meat place! Come here when you’re craving delicious grilled meat (“yakiniku” means “grilled meat” after all!). We tried A5 Wagyu kalbi, marinated premium kalbi, diamond-cut harami (skirt steak) marinated in a jar, and diamond-cut kalbi marinated in a jar. Our favorites were the diamond-cut skirt steak and the marinated premium kalbi. The bbq sauce was delicious, and we ordered assorted kimchi, as well as the “whole cucumber,” which comes with another delicious sauce. Another highlight was a dessert comprising a fish-shaped warm pastry filled with red bean paste and served with ice cream (we liked the black sesame ice cream). We will be going back for more!

DO NOT COME HERE. Had such a disrespectful waiter that completely ruined our experience. The waiter was extremely arrogant. Waiter laughed and was sarcastic about not willing to eat raw meat, having zero respect for people’s preference. At the end, waiter was leaning forward so much and micro aggression for tips. After giving a decent amount(around 17% given the bad service) waiter was angry and did not say any thank you and threw the receipts on the table. Dont come here if you dont want to be looked down

This is a great restaurant for groups of 2+ people. The atmosphere feels authentic and once you enter you are immediately greeted by everyone in the restaurant. Service is attentive and kind, and we will be recommending this to friends. Although all the meat was good the waygu sushi is a dish everyone should try at least once in their life.
