Japanese restaurant prices, nice service, but you're left to pour your own sake with only ok sushi. The sweet corn tempura was served without pozu and was missing the smoked salt :( The corn didn't taste fresh, and was bland and on the soggy side. Apparently it's a favorite. The ankemo that the server proclaimed to be super fresh was stiff, and not rich or creamy even though it was dressed nice. Presentation was plain and simple, but I don't need my food to be pretty. It was fresh but missing the Hallmark of ankemo from Japan.I understand most restaurants won't print daily menus, but at 7pm while it wasn't busy most of the items were not available, and I don't believe it was because they were eaten so quickly since opening, but just an outdated menu. It made me glad I didn't do omakase even tho it was a great price, because all the interesting items were out of season. At least update menu 3 times a year please. The 7 pieces of sushi they could accommodate from my selection we're not fully dressed. The soy sauce was stale. The sushi was ginza style, and it was a 50/50 shot of getting good quality flavorful fish vs fish that had been waiting for someone to order. None of it was fishy, just lacking flavor so several steps above a supermarket.I have to admit I loved the space, but it had an American cozy flare and not a Japanese flare. The staff were super nice and attentive.I sat next to a couple that ordered the truffle risotto and it smelled amazing and the dish eas empty on return. I have to confess, cooked items may be the way to go. Their rolls were beautiful and popular. So at the end, I still am loving the service. The menu was old and some prices were incorrect. I asked for adjustment and they accommodated. A free dassai sake was delivered as an apology.
Perfection and high quality. Love the 3 roll special and the salmon sashimi/maki combo. I was thinking quality might have gone down due to adapting to takeout dynamics. I'm happy to report great value with the same commitment to quality.
Modest looking place on a sidestreet (115 E 9th), but the husband/wife team and their staff are so gracious and the food is flat out superb! So many Sushi places in our neighborhood and city, most of them quite good, but YUBA stands out as our absolute favorite. Many unusual menu items, always fresh, always great. LOVE This place!

Great great great. Definitely will come again
It was very good!! The meal was simple but delicious and fresh. Service was quick and the waiter was attentive, polite and knowledgeable. I will definitely come back!!!
Loved the Mon Amour sushi role. Excellent food!
Fantastic food and value. Sushi and sashimi were amazing, and enjoyed sitting at the bar watching the chefs prepare the rolls.
Very fresh sushi especially uni. Delicious house specialty rolls. Slightly pricey but worth the visit
Excellent raw fish items and cooked items. Service is efficient, caring and excellent. Welcoming neighborhood place - I go approximately once per week. Only complaint - they need to refurbish wall banquet -- covering has been totally worn away. Makes is uncomfortable and unsightly. If they did this, my overall rating would be 5 star.

Although it may seem as just one of the many sushi spots in the East Village, Yuba stands out for the quality of it’s sushi and appetizers. A little quiet spot in a usually busy area, this was a good one for a walk in with my family.
Came here a Saturday afternoon while walking around the East Village. This non pretentious spot offers amazing Japanese cuisine and top notch service. The sushi platter and gyozas were tasty and the mataki mushrooms were incredibly good. The staff was friendly and attentive.
We’ve had delicious dinner, California Uni was amazing and huge. Chef even gave us “happy new year” two free pieces of truffle salmon sushi. We’ll be back for omakase.
The sushi and sashimi are always fantastic, buttery melt-in-your-mouth fresh and delicious. The appetizers we tried this time were all excellent as well. Service was prompt and attentive, always good. This is probably my favorite sushi restaurant in the East Village.
