We used Z Catering for full service catering for our wedding. The coordination and planning process with them was extremely disorganized. We tried to stay on top of everything on our end, but communicating with the company was very difficult. We had filled out all the online forms for seating arrangements and what each guest was eating at each table. This was all submitted 3 months prior to the wedding. I had sent multiple follow up emails to ensure that the company received the google forms, and I either got no response or very delayed responses (over a month later). 2 weeks leading up to the wedding we still had not had a formal meeting with the company to go over the day (and they had never been to or catered at our venue before). We emailed and called numerous times to get a hold of the company to set up a meeting. We finally received a text (the Saturday before the wedding) from the point of contact stating that they were ill. By Monday (the week of the wedding) we had not heard anything else and struggled to get a hold of anyone. We finally were able to have a meeting that day (with someone else who had no idea what was going on with our wedding). In that meeting we found out that cash bar was not offered once the open bar time was over (so guests would no longer be served), so we were forced to buy an additional hour of open bar. On Wednesday (3 days before our wedding), the company told us that they did not know what each guest was eating (when all of this information was given to the company 3 months prior). My husband spent the entire day piecing together the information again to give to the company. The entire week leading up to the wedding, our month of wedding coordinator could not get a hold of the company. They tried calling, texting and emailing and got no response. We complained to the owner of the company, and he had his assistant email us to offer a complimentary dinner 2 days before our wedding (after we had paid thousands of dollars to this company-for them to be so disorganized and cause incredible levels of unnecessary stress). The day of the wedding, the catering crew did a nice job and everything ran smoothly. After the wedding, the company asked for feedback. We told them how terrible and disorganized the planning process was, and that we wanted to be compensated for the trouble they put us through. The company proceeded to put the blame on us for not having a fulltime wedding planner and only having a month of wedding planner. We chose Z Catering because we liked their restaurants and the food was good. If we knew the planning, communication and coordination would be so poor then we would not have chosen this company. It was not worth the incredible amount of unprofessionalism and stress just days leading up to the wedding. We paid a premium for full service catering and the company dropped the ball on the planning leading up to the wedding.

When planning for a wedding, I tried not to think about too many things that could go wrong by staying up to date with my to-do lists and staying in touch with vendors. ZCatering proved to be our worst wedding decision. While the food and service on the day of were excellent and received high remarks, the process of working with Zcatering was horrendous. From lack of response to rude management, we found the lack of professionalism to be shocking for a company with generally good reviews. Our management team either ignored our messages or made false claims and later billed us for mistaken headcount (and still will not reply to messages asking for that money back.) During our tasting, they accused us of being late, refusing to see the email verification we had of the date and time (we were actually minutes early). Not once did the manager apologize for how we were treated or acknowledge wrongdoing on their behalf. Then began the lack of communication. Then, the day before our wedding (!!) when I had still not heard back, our scheduled coordinator said she was out of state and would have a replacement handling our day-of catering. I was absolutely outraged by the lack of communication and the last minute change without any notice (had I not phoned nonstop). I cannot recommend Z Catering whatsoever. The food and wait staff may be great, but it is not worth the headache and stress and disrespect we dealt with leading up to our wedding. (Not to mention they still owe us money.) so disappointing.

I simply cannot recommend Z Catering enough! Because of COVID, our wedding was changed from a 200 person event at a grand ballroom in Pennsylvania to an intimate gathering in our home in Avon, CT. The team at Z - led by the always helpful and super knowledgeable Kristin - made our wedding weekend incredibly special and memorable...and DELICIOUS! Kristin worked with us and also our wedding planner from our tasting through the day of the event, where she showed up to check in and make sure everything was running smoothly - and it was. The team was so easy to work with, answering all our questions, providing recommendations, and handling constant changes with ease (the joys of wedding planning during a global pandemic!) We held a welcome get together on Friday evening with stations and our wedding reception Saturday night with passed Hors d'oeuvres and a five course meal and bar service both nights and the food for both was spectacular. We loved having access to all the restaurants in the Z group and our guests even commented on and appreciated the variety of food and amazing quality. Last but certainly not least, the team with us each evening was fantastic. They were professional but also had some fun with our group, they were very happy to help with any task big or small, and kept everything super clean and organized during the events and upon leaving. We can’t wait to work with Z again on future catering requests and think you should too!
