The cioppino was tomato stained water with some old mussels, frozen calamari, tiny non native clams and 3 shrimp. The bread was ok.

This was a barely passable excuse for an Italian Restaurant. This evening I came in with my family and ordered the shrimp over gluten free pasta and when it was served, the pasta was a chopped up mess. The sauce was created from canned tomatoes and chunky garlic. My son ordered the barely edible fettuccine alfredo. It looked nothing like fettuccine alfredo and he left the whole thing over. My husband ordered the veal scallipino parmigiana plate which had green beans and potatoes all put on the same plate. The service was poor. Our waiter was too busy to check on us because he was picking his nails instead. The worst. Ever.

The new, First Avenue location is much smaller, but still an attractive space with the same delicious Italian appetizers, salads, pastas, entrees and wine selections at reasonable prices. In some ways, the intimate space is perfect for couples and small group dinners. I always enjoy my meal and the excellent service.

This is one of the friendliest restaurants on the UES, with consistently delicious food (we've been eating here since it first opened in 1990 or 1991, at another location). Try it once and you'll be a regular before you know it!!

It's a great neighborhood Italian restaurant. I've been ordering there on and off for 25 years. I don't eat there much anymore but I certainly have in the past. I will often place an order to pick up on my way home from work.Wheelchair accessibility: They are on a street level so you can just come in

I ate here for the first time as I ordered appetizers and entrees. One of the appetizers was not as good as I expected so that is why I didn't give it 5 stars. Overall I enjoyed the main dish and the service.I would look to try this place again to see if the appetizer that I ordered tastes better the next time.

Disappointing is my first response. We have eaten at Zucchero, over & over for many years, it was a gem, good food, & service at reasonable prices. . .Since the downsizing to a closet, it's cramped. The menu options have also downsized. It just lacks a good feel. 3 out of the 4 dishes were really good, but my wife's chicken dish was tough. Since the move there is no Liqueur License, only wine.

This was our first visit to Zucchero since it moved from 2nd Ave. to 1st Ave. and we're sorry we didn't do it sooner. The food was even better than we remembered it and the service was as terrific as ever. Nozrul is a true professional who really cares about making his customers happy. And he is just a really nice guy. So, for a neighborhood gem with excellent Italian food at very reasonable prices and great service, Zucchero is the place to go. We look forward to returning very soon.
