It was one of the worst experiences. The music was very loud. The service was rushed. The food quality was horrible. There is nothing Japanese about this place. Salads were soggy and tasteless. Mushed spinach and the second salad was some stale mixed greens. The fish quality was really low. It was over priced for no reason. You can have much better quality food in any place for much less. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

All cage, no bird! Cod was not fresh and a very small piece for $52. Watercress salad was overwhelmed and mashed by wasabi dressing. Soft shell crab was over-fried and dark brown rather than golden. Four asparagus for $15 a bit pricey. Among the worst NYC dinners ever. The techno music was about 2 decades past popular. Dark lighting made it all seem mysterious rather than just off kilter.

Food was good, the waiter was patient and explained everything to us, however the other members serving water splashed the water on table many times, and food was served the same, just put the plate randomly on top of chopsticks, i don't know if he was having a tough day or it was rush hour, i usually don't mind this typ of things but when you pay a hogh price, you expect a top notch service as well,
food was delicious, small portions, bit overpriced but you get full at the end if you order an average of 6 plates, which is, i believe the right number to get a full experience to share and taste with your partner, i just wish the staff would be more cautious how they place the plates and fill up the water.

All in all, decent. Price per person is closer to 200$. The food is good, but not „wow”. I did like the black cod as a dish. The sashimi was fresh. The chicken skewer - was tender but lacked a bit of flavour. The atmosphere is very nice, with the house music in the background making for an ibiza-style feeling.

I took my wife for her birthday and and everything was perfect from the food to the service. She loved everything. We had the chef prepared premium each. Amazing

Waitstaff spilled a tray of drinks which included hot saki all over my boyfriend’s back, causing his velour coat and clothing to be wet. Nothing was even comp off the bill, instead they brought us a “complimentary dessert” - wow .. such bad business / customer service - courtesy etc., they chose to not have us come back as customers rather then comp drinks or something. I’m actually in shock. Our bill was $400 fyi ;) for anyone thinking of choosing to dine here.

Regardless of this tho, I do want to make it known our waiter Kevin was amazing. This wrong was strictly managements wrong doing.

We had went to Zuma this past Friday on Valentine’s Day and had the absolute worst experience ever. Our reservation was at 9:45pm, didn’t get seated until 10:50pm and waited another hour for drinks and appetizers. The worst part was when the waiter told us “if your food doesn’t come out in 5 minutes, it’s not coming out” . It was 1am and we left without even having dinner. We spent $200 on just margaritas without having dinner. We drove from Long Island (An hour and a half) to just drive back again without having dinner. It was very disappointing because it in fact did ruin our Valentines date. We completely understood the wait since it was Valentine’s Day however everything else was completely unacceptable & unfair for us. So, we’re going to redo our Valentines date this weekend elsewhere.

Food was great but I guess we were unlucky with the day as they had a staff party and were closing the kitchen early. Ended up being rushed to order, then 5 mins later tell us if we will order anything else as they are closing the kitchen. Bear in mind our reservation was for 8pm.

They then proceeded to not have the baby chicken that was ordered so we had to order something else 5 mins after ordering originally. Then, the mains haven’t yet arrived and we are being asked for dessert.

The dessert then proceeds to come with a frozen plate where ice cream was clearly put on the plate way before and then plated into the freezer.

Been to Zuma many times before and had never had an experience like this.

The food was ok but slightly overpriced. Atmosphere was nice. Upstairs lounge is very loud so we moved downstairs. Service was extremely slow. My wife ordered wagu beef 🥩 medium well but it came well so she asked to return it for medium. The manager refused because he said we ate too much of it. I explained that’s because we were sharing so she had my salmon while I had her beef, so she didn’t try it until I ate my half. He still refused to correct the order & suggested that I order and pay for a second one. The fact of the matter was they did overcook it so that’s their fault and they shouldn’t try to charge us for a second order properly cooked. Also it took one hour for the corn to arrive which is nuts

The food is decent. I’m not going to bend over backwards to praise it because honestly, you can have the quality and taste elsewhere for much less. The atmosphere is fantastic. In NYC, where space is a commodity, the amount of room you get at your table, the height of the ceilings, the lighting and spacing… exceptional.
The creativity and skill necessary to make the dishes were, in my humble opinion, middle of the road. Truly nothing tasted bad. But nothing was spectacular either. The portions were small (which is fine, but know that ahead of time). We ordered multiple rounds to fill up.
We did not try the cocktails. Desert was again, fairly run of the mill.
If you need to bring a large group together, where there is something for everyone, go here. It’s a safe bet. If you’re a foodie and are saving up for a special, intimate, culinary experience, skip this place.

Dietary restrictions: We had a person at our table with a canola oil allergy. While the reservationist told us that canola was not used in the kitchen, when we arrived, the waiter, manager and chef told us quite the contrary. The menu immediately became very limited to the allergic person.

All the chef's dishes are very good, high quality and delicate flavors, but the portion they serve is small, and it is expensive! The drinks are not so delicious and also small portions that do not make you want to order more! The bathrooms are very elegant. , the tables are uncomfortable and very cramped! The mashed potatoes they make for you at the table are not delicious!

This is the first time I have visited such a disappointing restaurant. The service 👎🏽 only our server was smiling, the rest really wasn't. Overpriced food for what you eat. And the decor is nothing impressive. Really don't go there.
