Did not meet our expectations for the price. The restaurant is loud due to design with voices carrying and even with space they seat people right next to each other making conversation difficult. Service was top notch and made the meal worth the $300 but steaks were mediocre.

My boyfriend and I decided to go out for his birthday. Him and I both chose the Western Door. We called and made a reservation for 730 pm on a Monday. When we showed up we were promptly seated at a booth. There were 2 waiters and about 3 tables in the restaurant. It took about 10 mins for someone to come up to our table with water. We ordered drinks and appetizers right away. It took another 20 mins for the oysters and salad to come out. Our food came out next and was mediocre. The overall feel was not what it used to be. I was not happy with the slow service and probably won’t be returning.

I’ve dined here once and I wasn’t about to review nor do review but I had to this time. I went to dine and upon my arrival without a reservation we peeked in and found that the restaurant was empty. It was approx 1 hour and some until closing time. There was a person at the desk that asked if we had reservations and we said no. He said that we needed reservations I had peeked behind him to clearly notice there was literally nobody in the restaurant. He/she or they kept repeating the same thing that we can’t be seated without a reservation. I had asked was there a private event or some party because I couldn’t understand why. I had asked to speak the manager, she arrived and asked the same question. I said we did not have a reservation. She said we needed one I said but once again there’s plenty of space. She said it again. With frustration I said I dont understand why you’d turn business down and how this a lack of respect at this point. We spend probably a min of $300 and it’s a shame. She then finally says we’re closing out earlier. What I didn’t like was that they could have both stated from the get go that they’re closing earlier. I would have understood that unfortunately the staff has to go due to any reason. But the going in circles was mind boggling. Never go there and honestly the food is mediocre. We were hungry but wouldn’t choose this establishment as my first second or third pick.

Visited two weeks back. Loved the wagyu, the pork belly and the lobster Mac and cheese.

Expensive otherwise. Didn't like the regular steak which was 60$ - truly a workout for the mouth. So I barely ate half before giving up.

The 15$ potato wedges were grotesquely big and were simply discarded.

The wagyu steak itself is pure magic and worth the price!

The staff is cheerful professional and very very responsive. Probably the best in my USA ten day trip.

The ambience is very swank as well. All excellent otherwise.

Wonderful Experience!!
We were warmly welcomed in by Brandy & Joshua.
The decor was beautiful & the restaurant was spotlessly clean.
Our server team of Bonnie & Jeremy were on point and professional the whole night.
All food was perfectly prepared. We both had Chilean Sea Bass with clams casino & crab cakes to start. Yummy lava cake too!
Highly Recommended!!

We have been coming for years to this restaurant without problems. This year however was very different. We had reservations for dinner. Prior to dinner couldn’t sit “at the bar”, as bartender said seats at bar were “reserved” even with several seats open. WHO ever heard of such a thing? I traveled extensively and have never had this happen.
As far as the meal, service very slow, not enough staff. My husband’s strip steak was very tough, had trouble cutting the meat even with a steak knife. He should have sent this back but didn’t. All in all very disappointed with everything, don’t really know if we will be back. The hostess was very pleasant and cordial, one of the only pluses.

We went across the border looking for more marbled steaks than the usual leaner Canadian.
We got the rib eye and the prime rib. Didn't think the ribeye felt right when I cut into it, thought it was just over cooked. Both dishes were over cooked. The server agreed and they were sent back.
The second ribeye was proper medium rare but still tough. Then when I pushed for the truth, the server advised us that they do not serve USDA prime but something they termed Chairman Choice. In other words, a lower or much lower grade with no or very little marbling. Utterly disappointed. How would anyone dare to order the Wagyu and not sure what the grade might be?
Last visit.

Parking: Distant.

Wheelchair accessibility: Very awkward. Only via the parking garage distant from the restaurant. Front door was gated off for car traffic.

30 min wait ended up being 40 minutes (and we had to approach the hostess again) on a Sunday evening. No big deal, they were pretty busy. Food was great but no refills on soda & our water was left empty most of our dinner. I’m sure our 2 top table wasn’t top priority when they had larger tables, but still a bit disappointing for the price point & our one year anniversary dinner.

My medium rare very expensive bone in ribeye came out gray dry and tough. The wine list is marked up more than normal. We had some oysters to start that were very small and not so good. Overall, it did not meet expectations

I would like to give it a 5 but even though the food was good and our waiter excellent, the guy at the front door wasn’t. He asked us if we had a reservation (we didn’t)… we came at 8:15pm he said the restaurant close at 8:30 pm, he lied because it closes at 9:00 pm.

Anyways we stayed having dinner until 10pm. And at the end we had the opportunity to chat with the chef that we met at the elevator. Very nice person.
