Greatly enjoyed the udon noodles with pork as a special menu item tonight. We were welcomed graciously by the owner and seated right away in our reserved seats at the bar. Service was very good. I found the noise level uncomfortable from the music which was easy to loud to carry on a conversation, and the ambient noise from the patrons. Overall it was a good experience.

We visited friends in Northport and went to dinner at Mama Chan’s on Saturday, November 21, based on a recommendation from other friends. We arrived for our 6:00 reservation and were promptly seated. The server came to take our order, and all of us had to shout to be heard because the music was so loud. I asked our server if she could ask the bartender to lower the volume, and she said she would. When the food arrived, I asked again if the music could be turned down, and she said she had asked. While the food was delicious, our experience was very unpleasant because we couldn’t have any kind of conversation. When the woman who had seated us came to clear our plates, she asked how we had enjoyed our meal. I told her it would have been so much better if the music hadn’t been so loud. She shrugged and said it was a Saturday night and this was to be expected. If we wanted a “more chill vibe,” she said, we should come during the week. Her flippant attitude sealed the deal: we won’t be back, and we certainly won’t recommend Mama Chan’s. What a shame!
We had dinner at Mama Chan’s tonight and it was so delicious! It’s like an elevated version of your favorite Chinese takeout - familiar and comforting, but still feels super authentic. Any menu with cold sesame noodles already steals my heart, and these totally lived up to the hype. The sesame chicken (my go-to dish every time I order Chinese take away) was incredible - perfectly crispy, fresh, and coated in just the right amount of sauce.
We tried a bunch of things - the Chinese broccoli special, shrimp cakes, cold sesame noodles, cucumber salad, shrimp dumplings, fried rice, sesame chicken, and udon noodles — and honestly everything was amazing. Our waitress was lovely, and the owner came by to check on us and couldn’t have been sweeter, and so hospitable!
We'd love to order takeout from here sometime, but dining in really felt like a special treat. Can’t wait to go back!

The marinated cucumber salad is excellent, the boneless chicken thigh, and dipping sauce is awesome! The pork dumplings that were paying fried to perfection, where the highlight of my takeout order. I chatted with the owner, she’s a very nice and warm person.

Great food, friendly and fast service. It's a vibe. Love the weekly specials too which switch things up from the normal menu.

I have never had Asian food like this!! It’s in a class by itself. Just ate there tonight based on a recommendation of a friend and it lived up to the review and beyond. Dishes are flavorful but light—not weighed down. Sesame chicken and beef wrap, and the stringbeans— who thought they could be addictive.. they are. Warmth from the owner and staff adds the cherry on top.

I got there at 5pm, had the whole place and staff to myself. The Lucy Liu look alike contest winner (the owner) laughed at all my jokes so I knew she was sincere! The food, staff, music, and overall vibe was way too good for this silly little town, but I was glad to hear they pack in crowds and serve first rate margaritas. They also have a great take out option, but if I ordered take out I'd probably ask if it was ok to eat in!

So glad I turned around and ordered at Mama Chans. Absolutely fresh and delicious dishes. I had the sesame chicken and beef rollups with the green beans. So flavorful and satisfying!. Finally a Chinese restaurant that is noteworthy. I will definitely be back.
Another fine meal at Mama Chan, always bustling little gem in Fort Salonga. The cucumber salad and Korean wings were the standout dishes. Nashville hot chicken was very good and Pan fried garlic Udon did not disappoint

Mama Chan’s is a top tier Chinese restaurant on Long Island. I’ve come here multiple times and always look forward to the specials. Whenever they have bao buns, salt and pepper shrimp or quesadillas, I know I have to get there early. If you miss that, get beef noodle soup, udon with pork, and definitely the rice cakes— you can’t find anything like them anywhere else. The cocktails are unique and the perfect concoction! I love the haiku & chichi lychee. The restaurant is clean, welcoming, and the music is the best so I added it to my Spotify playlists lol. Just when you think you found the best food spot, they do music nights, bingo and trivia and occasionally paint events, DJ nights, and more. I highly recommend everyone check it out. Diana and Justin make a great team along with their servers, bussers, and bartenders. Pro move: sit at the bar! It’s super cozy and the community is fun to be around. I look forward to all the success and fun activities to come.

Dumplings were amazing, chicken I just don’t understand the hype. One big battered shell with dry stringy chicken inside, you don’t even get both flavors at once.
Diana did come over at the end of the meal to ask how everything was, I showed her my plate and chicken shells and asked if the chicken is typically like this, her reply “always” I guess I can expect that from the one whom pulled an outside table in and rubbed it against my back while pushing it without saying sorry or excuse me as well as watching her prep the rather large table she made and drop a chopstick on the floor and proceed to place it on the table after. Guess it’s just me but I won’t be back.
Brunette server was amazing.
Edit: I always love a condescending reply: I loved my $120 meal so much I left half of it on the plate? I watched Diana also drop the silverware after cleaning the table.. why was she dropping everything? Weird right?
