Iam so done with this place I wish my father didn't have to go here for his health care.. there's very few nurses and doctors that are actually nice and answer questions, the dr I dealt with the other day was unprofessional.. the social worker and patient advocate lied to me.. No one will give me information about what's going on with my father even though Iam his next of kin and on all of his paperwork to contact me to let me know what's going on.. Iam sooo aggravated and soo frustrated with this hospital..

I registered for the VA after being laid off due to covid related issues with the company I was employed at. I never needed VA services before since I've never been without employment. Even with covid still being an issue, I was contacted pretty quickly for my appointment. The technology they're using rivals the private sector with telephone / video conference visits.They take all the proper precautions of social distancing, masks and gloves. All the employees and the police were EXTREMELY friendly and courteous.Great experience overall!

I contacted customer service in attempt to locate a patient. The male operator who received my call was extremely rude and appeared to be annoyed by the phone call. He was brief and hung up the phone abruptly. He was quite unprofessional. This is a poor representation of what quality customer service should reflect. It is absolutely horrible and quite distasteful.

Early Sunday morning I suffered an allergic reaction so severe that my wife insisted that we go to the ER. We are both frequent-flyers of the Northport VA so it was a no-brainer it was our destination. As soon as I walked in I was assisted by Admissions, brought to Triage then straight to the ER. Within minutes I had an IV inserted (my Nurse Ed, who diagnosed me and knew exactly what I required got the vein on the first attempt, thanks Ed) and I started to feel better almost immediately. I received consultation from the ER Doctor and an Allergy Specialist and was closely monitored while I recovered. Although I was only there for a short time they brought me lunch (cheeseburger in case your wondering). A couple of hours later I was discharged with my prescriptions to include an epinephrine kit... BONUS!!! I just want to add that the Pharmacy staff at Northport is expedient and informative. In the past year I've been to the Northport VA at least a half-dozen times for appointments ranging from eye exam, ENT, a physical and another ER visit for severe congestion. My wife, also a Marine Vet goes as much as I do and even had a hysterectomy. She loves the Woman's Wellness Center and like me, has never had a negative experience. We feel bad when we hear about Veterans complaining about their VA Hospitals, hopefully someday they will all be on par with the Northport VA.

Little tip: get better communication skills ! Arrived there for an appointment early in the morning. Waited TWO hours for them to tell me that the appointment needs to be rescheduled because they didn't have the proper equipment for the procedure to be done today. They could have taken 1 minute to call me to tell me that. It takes me over 1 hour to get to this hospital. This is completely unacceptable!

My dad recently admitted and the care was wonderful. ER. staff attentive and professional. They comforted my mom and diagnosed my dad correctly and efficiently. He was admitted to unit 34 and the nurses were GREAT, social worker so kind and helpful, dietitian, physical therapist, they ALL really cared and were so kind and concerned. A great experience.
