cute little German tavern/restaurant on the north shore.
I don't come out easy very often, but when I do, I make sure to stop in for a bite and a beer. Prost!

The food quality was outstanding and very authentic. The sauces were absolutely superbly made. Very generous portion sizes. The atmosphere felt like being in Germany. The staff were friendly. Highly recommend!

Nice atmosphere and service. Wish the food was a little better. Too much sauce/gravy covered main course.

A staple when we're back home visiting family and friends. Food is delicious and the staff makes you feel like family. We stopped in for lunch last weekend. My daughter and I split a turkey club and we were stuffed.

Food is horrible and overpriced. Ordered the goulash and the noodle were watery. I’m not Hungarian but I have had goulash before I know how it should taste and look. Also ordered wings and read that it was $19 but menu didn’t state how many wings, so I asked and the waitress said “like 12 wings”. I accepted and only received 9 dried wings for $19. They also gave us refrigerated bread. The place is really a bar for locals and not worth it for food. Very disappointed. The French onion soup was the only good thing they had. If you want beer and to hang with locals and maybe just have French ion soup then this is your spot.

Excellent authentic German fare! My wife and I were warmly greeted by owner Artie Glad and served by Lisa, one of Pumpernickel's efficient & friendly servers appropriately dressed in their dirndl/lederhosen attire. Once we tasted their delicious fresh baked pumpernickel bread, we could hardly wait to dig in to our meals! We devoured generous servings of sauteed Weinerschnitzel bratkartoffeln with sauteed mushrooms and Sauerbraten with potato dumplings and gravy. We both shared delicious sides of red cabbage and sliced carrots. To top it off, I had a Pilsner glass of Spaten draft Oktoberfest beer ... yummy!? We'll be going back to Pumpernickel's real soon!

My service was great but the food tasted very old and expired. Also, the decor seemed a little dated, like I was in the 90s again

I grew up in a German household. My parents, German immigrants, used to eat here back in the day.Tragic. The food is terrible and the prices are ridiculous for what they serve. Tasteless carrots, potato dumplings are some bizarre mashed ball covered with terrible brown gravy.Schnitzel was terrible. The soup and mashed potatoes were actually good. The decor was nice. My wife liked the Tiffany lamps. There are many better places to eat in Northport. Even McDonald's is across the street.

We came here before going to see a play in Northport. The food was great. We started with the pretzel, wings and mozzarella sticks. Then everyone really enjoyed there entrees. For dessert we did cappuccino and the apple strudel with ice cream. It was great.
