Went with a friend who had seen this place packed when she ate at a nearby trad restaurant. We split two vegan sandwiches and everything was just right! Healthy, perfect portions, even the greens on the side were fresh and organic! 100% satisfied. Menu item descriptions are informative. Wish we’d had room for dessert! Oh- horchata was refreshing too!
I live out of state. Every time I visit New York I have to go to The Purple Elephant. I have been going for years. I always get the delicious Sorry Charlie Tuna sandwich. It is an open faced 'tuna' sandwich made with chickpeas. It is only on the lunch menu. The Thai peanut cauliflower wings are delicious. Everyone at this restaurant are so friendly. The service is outstanding. There are so many vegan options. Mostly all the desserts are vegan. I highly recommend this place.
Very unusual menu. Vegan friendly. Great tasting food! You can enjoy your meal on their outside deck overlooking one of Northport's beautiful marinas. Well worth the trip!

While taking a few days to celebrate our birthdays, my SIL saw reviews and the vegetarian menu stuck out in her mind. I looked online and decided to try it. The staff was attentive, water was easily refilled. We ate on the patio and it was perfect weather for it. Looking out was so pretty. It's got a funny name but this place certainly is not a joke. Big serving, good food and perfect company doesn't get any better. Try it...you won't regret it.
Vegetarian options: Our waiter listened to our concerns, and everything was clearly marked whether vegan, vegetarian, or meat. We had Thai cauliflower (OMG so good), my SIL had a vegetarian bowl, and it was piled high with tofu. My nephew has the mushroom burger, and he said it looked like he was eating an octopus. The mushrooms were fried and piled high. Looked good. My husband and I shared the Burnt Ends Burritos. So good. I didn't want to go, but we were done, and we had other places to visit before leaving the following day. Enjoyable dinner. I'd gladly go back. Perfect...
Parking: There was limited parking in front and plenty behind the building. We parked behind the building. Getting downstairs to the car was a breeze.
Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp to get into the building and onto the patio. There is no ramp to go from the patio to the parking lot.

Love this restaurant. This is my favorite vegan restaurant on Long Island. The food, service, location and ambiance all make it a must visit location.
Vegan and conventional food options that are sure to satisfy everyone. You can go in casual attire or dress up a bit for a date. Always a good special on the menu. Good portion sizes for entrees appetizers are smaller we usually get 2 apps for 2 people.

I was trying out new healthy spots and I was glad I found this one. I had their vegan Grain Bowl for lunch which was not boring at all like the food sometimes is at other healthy places. I loved it so much, I kept coming back for it and I wondered why was I wasting my time going elsewhere. I can't wait to try more items on their menu as I love the whole concept of this restaurant.

I was in the area & excited to try this place for dinner.
Our first waiter didn’t know how to answer our questions & wasn’t informative at all. Thank goodness another server took his place since we asked for more time with the menu.
? inside & outside dining available
? loved the ambience & atmosphere, great decor throughout the restaurant, definitely loved the vibes. Outside patio faces the marina, very nice.
Very picturesque, & Instagramable location
?I tried the horchata (I’ve had better) and one of the house specials: the porch swing (very sweet)
? Thai elephant wings were good (but mid way felt very heavy, greasy , & it didn’t make me feel good)
?I wanted to try the burrito, but they said it’s only available at lunch time…
? creamy pesto pasta…way beyond tasteless…oh my felt like it was fake pesto flavor and mostly pasta…that dish needs to be reevaluated & made with love or something…so dissatisfying
? my friend got the beef tacos…& she was dissatisfied as well…she said the meat was over cooked & she couldn’t finish it..
Overall loved the ambiance & atmosphere…but the food looked good…but the quality & taste wise…Not really

I've been coming here for years. Something changed recently about the food quality I'm not sure what it is but they aren't the same anymore. I went there last night and we were really disappointed about the food and drinks. The tacos fell apart and my burger was over cooked and extra greasy. Unfortunately this restaurant has been crossed off my list.

I took my mom here for her birthday and we had a lovely, warm evening on the atmospheric deck overlooking the Britannia Yachting Center. As others have noted, the best thing about this restaurant is that vegan options are the vast majority, and they're good. My favorite appetizers were the Thai Elephant Wings, which are cauliflower-based, with a peanut-ginger sauce. My favorite main course was the Stuffed Spaghetti Squash. (The Eggplant Rollatini was pretty good, but the creamed spinach and vegan cheese overwhelmed the eggplant.) The coconut custard brulee was delicious, too. And the staff was generous and professional: They accommodated our last-minute request for an outdoor table and went out of their way to take care of my mom. Two suggestions for visitors: (1) Reserve a table and ask for the back deck. (2) The portions are so generous that you'll want to order in courses, rather than all at once. The two of us would have been fine splitting three appetizers and no mains, or two appetizers and one main. Updated from previous review on 2024-07-01
