In the charming village of Northport, NY, there's a place where the clock hands seem to spin a little slower, and the welcome is as warm as the soup. The Shipwreck Dinner is not just a local eatery. It's a time capsule that captures the essence of a bygone era, a place that cherishes the slow and steady rhythm of a close-knit community. From the moment you step inside, The Shipwreck Dinner envelops you in an ambiance that whispers of yesteryears -- a time when everyone knew your name and your favorite dish. The air is rich with the aroma of simmering soups, each batch lovingly prepared to perfection. As a soup aficionado myself, I can attest to the fact that their offerings are nothing short of amazing. The heart and soul of The Shipwreck Dinner is, without a doubt, owner Dennis and his dedicated staff. Dennis, with his ever-present smile and genuine affection for his clientele, sets the tone for the establishment. He's more than just an owner. He's the captain of a ship where every passenger is treated like family. His passion for the restaurant and the people it serves is evident in every interaction, fostering an atmosphere that's as comforting as the food. The staff's commitment to their work is palpable -- they move with a purpose and a joy that can only come from people who truly love what they do. Their approach to service is personal, attentive, and imbued with the kind of care that can only be found in a place where employees are there because they choose to be, not just because they have to be. The Shipwreck Dinner is a treasure of Northport, a reminder of the times when meals were savored, conversations lingered, and the community was at the heart of every business. It's a place where you can shake off the cold rush of the modern world and bask in the warmth of good food and even better company. For anyone searching for a meal that satisfies the stomach and the soul, The Shipwreck Dinner is the perfect port of call. It's a restaurant that proves that some places can withstand the tides of time, offering a harbor of delicious nostalgia to anyone who walks through its welcoming doors.

Breakfast all day... need I say more? It does get crowded at lunchtime, so be prepared to wait.Kid-friendliness: High chairs available. Definitely a family oriented place.

Taken over by a new owner. Who has managed to keep the Small town, local feel, while continuing to serve great flavored and fresh food. Of course the staff is on top of everything making sure things are "just right" Always great service. Dog friendly

The best breakfasts! Great service and just an overall great place to eat. It can get a bit crowded on the weekends which leads to a little wait time before getting a table but it's worth it. It is cash only here.
