We went in there with a group of girls for my friend’s bachelorette party and I purchased 2 drinks for myself and the bride to be and it was $40. I made a comment about the price to the bar tender and he put his hand in my face and was so incredibly rude. Mind you, I paid it but having never been to fire island I was just very surprised. The bar tender proceeded to be rude so I took the cash tip I originally put down for him, off the table. I told him because of how he was acting I was taking it away and I drank my drink at the doorway near security. I wanted to finish my $20 drink. I removed myself from the volatile and hostile man. The security guy apologized and was kind. While I was standing there trying to finish my drink, calmly, minding my business, the rude bar tender came outside to tell the security guy that I had taken his cash tip off the bar and to kick me out. He was yelling and waving his arms around like a crazy person. That man had some serious issues and I was scared he was out of control. I explained it was my own tip I took off the bar because he was extremely rude. The security guy apologized again and allowed me to finish my drink and my friends and I left. We will never go there again because the drinks are expensive but more importantly the bar tender was extremely rude, out of line, out of control and really put a damper on our fun night out. I hope that establishment fires him for his inappropriate behavior.

We were a group of twelve, and aside from the pricey but delicious lobster, our dining experience left much to be desired. The tacos, lobster roll, chicken fingers, and other dishes were all disappointingly subpar. Furthermore, the drinks were noticeably diluted, and to make matters worse, we discovered a hair in one of them. Regrettably, our concerns regarding the hair were not addressed by the waitress, as it remained on our bill. While I could go into more details, I'll choose to remain courteous.

Don't order the "lobster special" absolutely disgusting. They advertise it as a steamed lobster, it is a boiled lobster, I cracked open the lobster with the rusted lobster crackers they gave me and a cup of briny juice poured out of the lobster, the corn on the cob was also boiled undercooked and uneatable. I asked for a new lobster cracker that was clean that didn't have rust and gunk on it and was given another one even more disgusting, they clearly don't wash them and don't care if their guests consume rust. I was a chef for years and I wouldn't serve this meal to someone I disliked. I let the server know about the meal as feedback for the kitchen and was given an attitude worse then the my undercooked lobster. If it wasn't for the constant turnover of new business from a popular tourist destination this place would be out of business.

100% the worst bar i've ever been to. i walked in with my 3 friends and we where all 21+ obviously. the bartender wasn't accepting my sisters out of state id (she was visiting from new jersey)and was screaming at us for no reason even after we provided another form of identification. he rudely yelled at her and all of us calling her stupid for even coming in to the bar. the bartender then was holding extremely tight onto my sisters credit card as i tried to grab it and wouldn't give it back. he was so rude, crazy to me that this guy ever chose to be a bartender if he's so miserable. i live in fire island and i've never had a bad experience in a bar until i walked into housers. i will never be coming to them again and i will also probably tell all of my friends in fire island not to walk into the nastiest deserved zero star disgusting bar

Was in there last Thursday...vibes were absolutely vibing. There was a big dude named slooty (sp?) and another bartender named Billy working. When they played unwritten the crowd went nuts. Make sure to try their specialty drink the 'Zippy'. If you're out in fire island and looking for a good time...this is the place to be

Get a Zippy (light ice) and the lobster mash. The lobsters are so fresh and the corn is so sweet. Housers is great anytime. But, If you can, go on off hours to get the best food and service.
The past reviews on here about Houser's crack me up. If you came to this place looking for a Michelin star meal, you're a true cidiot on Fire Island. For those of us that grew up across the bay frequenting these haunts, we know the drill. This is a bar bar. A seafarers bar. A dingy place to slam Zippys, laugh with friends, play pool, hang out on the sand, and wait in lines for bathrooms. If you want to eat, there are options here. The lobster dinner is a go to, best price point for it in all of OB. Apps are decent enough. But if you're trying to have a sit down with friends, do your research and go somewhere else. If you're looking to have a rip-roaring late night fun time, you've found the right place. To those that gave this place one star, my suggestions is that Housers isn't the problem... your expectations are. I bet you complain about swinging the lights at the albatross too lol .

Really good place for drinks. We did not eat here but, but got really good drink. if you are here when they are super busy, don’t expect grade A service. It’s not a bad thing, they just get busy and they really try to do there best to serve everyone, but it’s a party scene at times. They really do a good job of trying to get to you, but if your rude then you will get served on their time. Just be chill with them and kind. And I promise they will make your drink strong for you ;). Everyone we spoke with was super chill and down to earth. Highly recommend the zippy drink!!

This was my first time at Housers Bar. With that being said, it will be not only be my last time going there, but also my friends. The fat bartender (shown below) will make your 'happy experience' nothing short of miserable He may be the worst employee I have ever encountered in my entire life. He knows nothing about business and there is a resason he serves for a living. This man is serving for a living, and he had the audacity to say, "Get the f***out of her bro, cash is better than card."- while I was trying to pay for my girlfriends drink. Following that interaction he continued to throw a handful of lime at my girlfriend and I. Oh wait it gets better... he then has the audacity to say "get out of my bar before I make you leave". This is the service you will get at Housers Bar, Ocean Beach, Fire Island.
