They won’t give you water for free. If you want tap water, only bottled water is available for $1.75. We were told it’s the diner’s “policy”. If it’s a policy, it should be displayed visibly at the entrance that says something like “water is not free, only bottled water provided”. Then I guess it would be fair but that would make it look for what it is - a cheap money grab.
Service is slow and quality of food drops when they’re busy.

The portions are generous and the service was outstanding; however, we had to keep asking for missing items. Their homemade Italian bread was delicious. The pancakes were plate size. We highly recommend these items. What would be nice would be for some gluten-free breakfast items such as bread, pancakes, French toast, and/or bagels. My daughter that needs to be gluten-free ate something that clearly had gluten which shouldn't have had; therefore, gluten-free items should be marked as such on the menu to ensure those that have dietary restrictions know what is safe to eat.

Came here for breakfast after a two day backpacking trip a few miles outside of town. My two compatriots and I stumbled in looking like disheveled woods hobos, and were promptly seated. We barely had to wait to have our orders taken despite the restaurant being fairly busy at the time, and our food was at our table in less than 10 minutes. I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits, which was like the breath of life itself after spending a weekend living off of freeze-dried meals. Top marks for Walt's Diner, no notes or suggestions. Everyone agreed we'll be stopping here again next time we're in town.

Spin the Walt's many, many many times. I'm afraid we see the service and the food not as good as it used to be. Potatoes for breakfast were half cooked. Waitress never came back to see if we needed anything. Not up to their usual service and food as it used to be
I’m always on the lookout for great pancake spots, and this restaurant checked all the boxes. The pancakes were hot, moist, and absolutely delicious, served with plenty of syrup and fresh butter. The service was friendly, and our food came out quickly. We visited on a weekday, so there were a few open tables, which made for a relaxed dining experience. Definitely coming back, Thank You!!!
