The most delicious food I have ever eaten:

I don't write reviews often, but after eating at Chops last night I knew I had to let as many people as a possible know how great this restaurant is. Walking through the door it felt like I had walked into a whole other world. The velvet curtains close off the outside world and really give you a cozy feeling. The entire restaurant is a long rectangle with a bar, and a window into the kitchen. There was soft music from what sounded like the 20s, 30s, and 40s. The were no loud TVs at the bar playing sports game.

We were greeted by the kind and humble owner and were walked to our table where a sign was waiting with our name. The menu is a simple, single page, with something for everyone and also a menu for cocktails and other spirits. After being seated, we were promptly brought bread by our kind server. My wife ordered the Lobster Bisque and the Spinach Salad and I had ordered the Pan Seared Chicken. The Lobster Bisque was creamy and delicious. I would not shut up about my chicken, it was by far the best food I had ever had. For desert I had the Hot Apple Cobbler A la mode and my wife order the crème brulee. Both were absolutely spectacular. After leaving, I immediately called my father in-law to tell him all about and spent the rest of the night going on and on about our food to some friends. I definitely will be coming back to Chops for years to come!

You definitely get the speak easy vibe coming in the door hidden by stage robes
The host is top notch. The chata bread came with a masterpiece mix of garlic butter and some balsamic tangy dressing, deliciousness. Porterhouse for 2 Steak was a great cut, tender. Loaded baked potatoe had a what seemed like the whole lobster in it, amazing. The scallops were straight 🔥 amazing.Only 3 stars on the atmosphere though. I understand it's a smaller in the cut restaurant w the speakeasy vibe but they gotta enforce some type of dress code. The old baseball caps and hoodies gotta come off for a nice steak dinner.

The atmosphere is great, low lighting sets a real easy mood, the food was excellent, the sides were plenty and the waiters were always on time , the whiskey menu is very in depth , would go again in the future, great time ….

Came here for LI Restaurant Week for dinner for 2 and was very pleased with my choice for this year!

Immediately as I walked into to the unassuming front, I was greeted by maybe the warmest opening I've ever received at a restaurant (shout out to the hostess, I think her name was Theresa!) and was sat a table that even had a little sign with my name on it that said reserved, very cute added touch. Service never felt rushed and the staff all around were very helpful with any questions and asks.

Ambiance is great, a small speakeasy style retro decor that still makes you feel just a little bit posh without it feeling like being too formal. Most importantly to me though, sound levels were perfect, could hear my date perfect, no need to yell or lean in just to enjoy each other's company.

Starting out with drinks, we had the Bee's Knees (a delightfully sweet and refreshing gin drink as the warm weather finally comes to a close) and the red sangria (as classic as any sangria I've had elsewhere).

We did the price fixed menu for restaurant week so for starters we had the fried calamari and the lamb chops. Both delicious but my personal favorite was the calamari, and they did not skimp on the portion! For entrees we got the Filet mignon and the duck l'orange. Duck can be tough to get right, but it's one of my favorites so when I see it on a menu, I often go cross-eyed and order without a second thought. And I'm glad I did. The steak was tender and delicious, but the duck had the perfect chew and delicious savory sauce to go with it. Normally I'm a roasted potatoes over mashed kind of guy, but Chops mashed was definitely my preferred of the two we tried, perfectly smooth and buttery, without being too rich. Lastly for dessert, we had the chocolate cake and the puff pastry with vanilla ice cream and peaches. They use the word decadent to describe this cake and that is no false advertising, it is rich and a chocolate lovers wet dream, not to mention I'm a sucker for anything paired with a raspberry sauce. The pastry is an excellent lighter choice too, the peaches were sweet and fresh and definitely a great complement to a meal that might be on the heavier side.

Parking can be a little spotty to find in Patchogue around main street on a busy night, but there is street parking and some municipal lots around if you don't mind walking a bit. I also believe they have valet service on Friday nights and weekends if you're really feeling swanky.

This is a great little steak house hidden among so many other big names, but I think you should really prioritize this place if you want something a little bit extra special in every little department. I know I'd be happy to come back and try more of the menu, as long as my wallet isn't hurting too bad!

The reason I gave Atmosphere a 4 is because the speak easy lighting was just a little too dark for me. Had trouble reading the menus. Otherwise I really enjoyed having my anniversary dinner there. They gave my husband and I each a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary! The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Our dinner was excellent. I'm so happy we found this place!

I was hesitant on giving a 3 star- BUT because I am a well versed in the industry (Globally with premise on Las Vegas - because lets be honest-Vegas is thee hub)- I was not impressed and it is Overprice for mediocracy. I went in with an open mind from the beginning and to be honest it was nice, the theme was cohesive, and friendly staff. Classic Old Fashion was Delicious (5+ stars to the Bartender - she was amazing) but in terms of food- you pay above average to get only 2 rolls of bread that are not hot (no refill) and the salmon was a bit fishy. The Truffle fries and Brussel Sprouts are delicious, the Steak- small even for a 20oz. that you pay $80 (Sadly had a better steak at Outback on a bad day).

Had a terrible experience closing the check (which I waited for 20min)- and in terms of guest resolution- Remedies need to be treated as a guest in a five star establishment and NOT om "another bar on Patchogue" approach. You pay about $100PP and there should be an evaluation on how situations are handled, and in terms of celebration- Take care of the dessert- establishments such as Jean Georges Steakhouse, Fogo de Chao practice this and you spend less- so think about that from a business perspective.

Sign off- someone who was excited to try Chops Dinner and Brunch- but turned off on experience.
