Let me preface this review with a little background. I spent my early childhood in an old farmhouse that used to sit where this Starbucks was built. I was disappointed at learning our old house was torn down, because, having lived out west for the last 50 years I had always imagined myself venturing back east to briefly connect with whatever family was now in my old home, as weird as that sounds. Being a truck driver, I saw a chance to complete this part of my bucket list and have my Dispatcher route me to Rochester. I dropped my trailer at a truck stop and drove to Penfield. My intention was to order a cup of coffee, take some pictures, and leave. Zach took my order, and, against my better judgment, I explained why I was there, fully expecting an eye roll and a “Who let you out of the home old man??” Instead he seemed genuinely interested and even wanted to snap a pic of an old photo of the house I had shown him. While I was drinking my coffee and contemplating life, I noticed that everyone that came in seemed to be sincerely happy to be there, and they were warmly welcomed, not in a business way, but genuinely. A few minutes later, Zach’s family came in and he introduced me to them, telling his kids my story. I showed them a picture of myself at their age with my mom, at the same spot where they were now. I think they got a kick out of that. When I left, Zach and the rest of the staff let me know how cool it was that I could come “home” after all these years. I related the experience to my mom (yes, still very much alive and in her 80’s) and she was overjoyed to hear that there was still a “family “ living where ours once had flourished. Reflecting later on the experience, I realized that the old adage, “You can never go home “ isn’t always true. Thank you treating me like family and welcoming me home, and may God bless you always!

Lucas was phenomenal! We stopped in for hot tea’s, the store was sparkling clean, the atmosphere was great! Lucia had an angry not paying customer upset with the bathroom policy and he was pretty irritated and took his frustrations out on Lucas, and Lucas was so calm cool and collected, he apologized and remained calm throughout the entire interaction. As a local business owner I witnessed exceptional customer service mixed with emotional intelligence. Please give Lucas major Kudos (and consider a raise 😉).

Normally a fine experience with this Starbucks, though it’s far from being one of the better ones in the area. However a particularly rude barista works at this location, I walk in for a mobile order that’s finished knowing I’d likely need to wait on a nitro coffee I stand at the counter to get their attention in which I’m met with a sneer and asked if I’m Melissa, I chuckle it off correcting it as Michelle, which I’m replied to as “it’s the same thing” and then promptly mansplained that my nitro coffee is going to go flat in seconds and that’s why I needed to wait on it and I should be patient, mind you I never once complained, was just met with automatic hostility and frustration. As someone in the service industry, word to the wise, don’t misplace your anger to a customer who just arrived and was not the source of your anger. Do better.

Starbucks has ample dining space, available parking and clean, accessible restrooms... it's a comfortable place for socializing with friends, working alone or for any reason really. I'm not a huge fan of their coffee, thus the 4 stars on the food, as I don't typically get anything else here. That said, it's a generally recognized place for meet ups, so I regularly suggest it, given it's convenient location

This location is always my favorite. They help me whenever I need help and the drinks are always consistently amazing. My real favorite reason for going here is the staff. Never have I ever been to another Starbucks with staff as nice as they are here.

Update: Just got a reply from what was labeled Owner. It said in a nutshell to reach out to his team and left a link. If I was the owner I would have already talked to my team as to why a customer said he couldn't order something in his store because it had insects crawling on the pastries, cake, brownies, etc.
My original review: My wife wanted to stop there to get coffee. They have a case where you order coffee that contains pastries and the sort. Which I had planned on ordering when we decided to go there. After seeing flying insects flying around the inside of the vase and scurrying on the items inside the case we decided to pass passed on those. Just had coffee. Three stars because the coffee and service was fine. Although most likely will not go back. There are other more cleaner places to go if you want food too.

I like to order the brown sugar shaken espresso but I like extra oat milk in it. I’ve experienced baristas refuse to add extra oat milk which is kinda wild because it’s ONLY this Starbucks location. Additionally, the drink in general frequently just tastes bad than other places. I’m not sure if their espresso is bad or if they’re not putting in the correct ingredient portions, but it’s pretty consistently subpar. So instead, I typically get iced coffee but they’ve been out of stock for that lately which is insane considering this place is supposed to be a coffee shop? The only redeeming quality is the interior and parking lot is nice.
