This is our go-to place in Penn Yan for Chinese food. Food is always great and the price is right. We've never been disappointed.

Very good typical food. Hot and sour soup was excellent. Very large walk in takeout order took 35 minutes during peak hours. Many others remembered to order ahead and had their orders waiting for them. Literally a mom and pop operation. Cash only works for us.Parking: Very easy at peak time. Right in front on street.
I used to love this restaurant! Today was the first time we ordered in a long time. The food was terrible and no one ate it. Never had issues before today. The restaurant even smelled really bad inside. So I called. I told her I could bring it back, but she refused to refund and came up with all excuses why it might not have tasted good like “we waited too long to eat it”. I don’t know, but I guess we won’t be going back there.

Wow. This food is severely mediocre... like bad. Go to China City in Naples for waaaaaaaay better food!! Chens is a step above dogfood. Also, Chens crabrangoons suck so much lol.. oh and China city takes a card, unlike Chens....whom I assume launder money behind the scenes. Sorry.... make better food jfc. Lolol

It’s adequate for small town Chinese food. Nothing too fancy, no strong flavors. Very easy and fast, but otherwise just okay. Cash only is a big downside.

Chen's Garden has been my favorite go-to for 9 years. The last 4 orders since Jan 2021, I've been disappointed. I chalked it up to COVID the first time, but after my order last night, I'm not able to find an excuse. They may be under new management. The Happy Family $15.54 (Scallop, shrimp, chicken, beef, roast pork and vegetables = one shrimp, NO scallop, two good size chunks of chicken and two pieces of either beef or pork. Almost all vegetable and sauce. The scallop in garlic sauce $15) = only 3 scallops in a quart serving, BUT they cut them in half so it looks like more. TONS of broccoli, though. One stale fortune cookie, not one soy, duck sauce or hot mustard in the bag (this was delivery). The egg rolls were good though.

Not too bad. Ordinary but still filled us up. Dumplings a little doughy. Little light on the meat. Wife got only two shrimp in her lomein.

We’ve been remodeling a home in the city for the past month and have revisited Chen Garden at least twice a week for the past few months. We brought our family there tonight and as usual service was outstanding and the food , as always, is consistently good. It’s always clean, the lighting is perfect and allows you to relax. stellar drinks -zombie and scorpion bowls are a favorite.
We have ordered from here for several years and are always happy with the food and size of the portions.

We were told 35 min (ordered at 5:40 pm) for our order to be ready. We arrived 55 min after we ordered and they hadn't even started. It took a little over 1 hr 30 min to get our order. (7:13pm) This is not how you do bussiness. They should be ashamed.
