Stopped here on our way back to Buffalo from Watkins Glen. Food ordered was a burger and a ham and cheese sandwich. The food was very good. And they have real fresh cut french fries, not the fake seasoned ones. Wanted to sit out on the patio but the chairs at the high tops are kind of uncomfortable. So we sat inside. Our server/bartender was phenomenal. Very friendly and talkative. If you are passing through, I would highly recommend this place.
Excellent food and service! A Great Lunch stop. Steve and Donna know how to run a clean and hospitable atmosphere. Plenty of space for the family dining experience. Don't miss out when visiting Penn Yan. A small town feel. Lots of lodging nearby. The tavern has been a historic icon in the village. I give this restaurant a $$$ rating out of five for value. ENJOY!!!!

I stayed at the Microtel which is literally right next to the Tavern. I'm not the bar type anymore but I did happen to order my food here and it was outstanding. Much better than I had even anticipated. I was so happy with the food I bought the first night. That I ordered several more meal over then span of my stay. The pizza was phenomenal and the chicken wings were too! I also ordered a haddock sandwich and my wife a chicken cordon blue and I was just as happy with them.
