Penn Yan Diner Reviews
Waited 33 minutes for food after we ordered (place was not busy at all). Food was lukewarm to cold when it finally came. Of the 4 toast I ordered, 2 slices were not buttered, and the other two had what I would describe as a very skimpy swipe. Waited 25 minutes for refills of coffee. Spent $58 on breakfast. Service was very lackluster. First time visiting, and sadly the last.
Versatile menu with delicious vegan and gluten free options. Very friendly staff. Food is yum. Prices are good. Locally owned small business with cool history. What’s not to love? Highly recommend!

Penn Yan Diner is a beloved spot for breakfast or brunch, known for its friendly staff and classic diner ambiance. The menu features a variety of options, including vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. Standout meals include the French Toast special of the day, Monte Cristo, and the veggie omelet. The diner also offers loaded tater tots and a fried cauliflower wrap. Many have praised the speed of service and quality of the food, making it a recommended spot for a delicious and enjoyable breakfast experience.
However, the diner is currently closed due to a fire, and it is boarded up while the owners consider rebuilding. During this time, they are operating a Pancake food truck. Despite the current situation, it has been noted that this small, out-of-the-way diner offers fresh homemade family food and a nostalgic atmosphere. The diner is also recognized for being veteran friendly and having a loyalty program, making it a worthwhile stop for locals and travelers alike.
