We ordered the sea bass and the hanger stake. Portions were very small to start with. The “caramelized” fennel was just really dry, burnt, and almost inedible pieces of fennel. The other veggies that were served as sides were also super cold, burnt and unseasoned. The “steak” was 3 small pieces of meat on a skewer that was dosed in what seemed to be ketchup?
Was a VERY disappointing and expensive meal. We ended up paying $80 for two entrees and an appetizer that we could have easily made way better at home.
I was surprised to see the high ratings but then realized they are all from many years ago and likely for the wedding hall and not regular dining.

Greet food; very reasonable portions to not feel stuffed. Excellent cocktails. Sunset views from the patio are impressive. Service was very personable with helpful recommendations. Parking was a little challenging with a wedding and the Hudson Valley Theater Festival on site but helpful staff in the lot got us to a spot.
Great service, good taste, fantastic view and good wine. We love the place
We had an excellent meal of mixed Mediteranean appetizers, flank steak and lamb on skewers, key lime mousse, and some wine before seeing an HSVF performance of Roger Akroyd (which was also very good).
As always, The Valley was a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. In this case, the chef and wait staff went above and beyond to make my father's 90th birthday brunch memorable. Everyone was attentive and thoughtful, and the chef surprised us with a delicious birthday key lime tart at the end. Took some beautiful scenic photos from the porch to commemorate the day and left smiling. Thank you!!!
I recommend this restaurant for first-time visitors to HVSF. But repeat visits will be a bit predictable. The appetizer is tasty but it's always the same, and the the main course choices are limited. I had the sea bass and realized it's exactly what I ate last year! It is a very attractive presentation but not terribly flavorful. Dessert was very good, though!
We had dinner here before attending a performance of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. The service was friendly and helpful (and prompt), and the food was excellent. No problem with timing to get to the performance.
Beautiful setting and excellent food. Very convenient for pre-theater at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare festival. There was a wedding on the other side of the restaurant and I could totally see hosting an event here too.
This is the first review I have written in my 65 years, so I am not a hard person to please. However, I think this place should be able to do better. It is definitely a beautiful place, but more importantly, it is a restaurant and I think they are trying to be something they clearly aren't. I didn't like that you are forced into an appetizer, main course and desert - I did know this going in, but I found I didn't like it. That is not their fault. However, when I asked the waitress to explain what each of the different things were on the appetizer board, she looked at me and said she had no idea and walked away. Solving this problem further did not occur to her. Staff should ALWAYS have tasted and be able to describe the food. The main course of smokey paprika chicken kabobs was made with some sort of chicken meat that was not smokey and contained bone fragments. The potatoes were under cooked. When we first sat down, I ordered a drink. I saw the same drink sail by my table numerous times to other customers and inquiries to my waitress yielded a response that it was "being made." Twenty minutes later, I told her to forget it. Will not go back again. PLEASE, PLEASE RETURANTS - put up some sort of noise absorption! I really do not want to hear someone's conversation bouncing around the room.
Four of us liked everything about this restaurant. The view is amazing. The appetizers delicious and different. The entree and dessert really good. Also good things to say about the wine!

Turns out the restaurant is under new management and has only been open a week plus they had a wedding event at the same time, however we let our server know we had theater tickets at the festival on the property The service was so extremely slow that there was no wAy we could make it in time unless we wolfed down our entree and skipped the dessert which was part of the mandetory Otis fixed meal The main course was delicious but all of our portions were teeny like an appetizer size ( which actually helped because we were so rushed). The manager profusely apologized and halved our bill andoffered us ice cream during the intermission which was lovely Oh and the servers were amateurish required us to ask for simple things 3 and 4 times Hopefully they will get their act together and fix the problems; it is a beautiful place and the food was tasty if sparing!
We dined before a Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival performance on the grounds. The food is very good, but menu is limited to a prix fixe offering (with only one appetizer choice, a spread of different spreads). Portions are modest, but very tasty. Our main complaint is we were seated at 5:30pm and didn't receive our entrees until 7:00pm, leaving us hardly any time to eat. Fortunately, they were able to bring our desserts to the theater concession stand so that we could have them during intermission. We didn't think to mention that we were going to the theater since so many of the diners go there for that reason, and they didn't think to ask.
We had the Prix fixe begore the Hudson Valley Shakespeare performance. Everything was wonderful. The food was beautifully plated, well prepared and tasteful, and abundant. Would definitely recommend it at anytime, and especially before the performance.
We loved the food, especially the Antipasto and the desert was really good. We had the Strawberry Cream Puff. The watermelon lemonade was really good, and the watermelon alcohol beverage was good as well. We loved the entrees as well. The views and the sunset were beautiful. Lastly the staff was welcoming and helpful.
The setting is lovely, the workers were pleasant and polite. It is the perfect location for a pre show dinner if you want to be catered to rather than bringing a picnic (it was my birthday). The food has the quality of a wedding factory. It was "fine" is the best I could say. Appetizer plate assortment mostly bland. The Lamb had some flavor with cumin yogurt sauce, the chicken was not something I'd be proud of - sweet potato compote was small chunks not worth the effort of eating. Overall I would not do the prix fixe again. The saving grace was a nice indoor place to spend pre show time while it rained.
