Worth the hype! Expect to wait but everything we ate was delicious, no complaints. Very friendly staff. Clean and cheerful atmosphere. All our food was delicious. I wish I had time to try more. Can’t wait to come back!

Typical dinner atmosphere. Lots of booths, counter seating and healthy servings of food. Traditional dinner food with interesting special items.

Charming roadside diner. It is an old diner so the food and atmosphere is what you would expect. Large servings of good comfort food. Good value for the money. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth stopping for a leisurely brunch while exploring fall foliage in the Catskill mountains.

Wonderful atmosphere, we ate outside with all the fall trees in beautiful weather and surroundings. Cold brew coffee was pretty solid. The food was pretty meh especially given the cost, it felt low end diner quality but at higher end prices. I got a bagel with smoked trout and also a breakfast sandwich with eggs ham and tomato jam. Trout was good, bagel less so. I wasn’t expecting an NYC bagel but was expecting something at least better than a supermarket bagel. The sandwich was pretty good. Potatoes though were soggy and kinda gross. All around, good for the vibes but not the best for food.

They were rlly busy but even then I feel like were patient and not once rushed the servers. We waited over 40 minutes to be sat and when we finally did sit down the server went to other tables that had sat down after us. She kept telling us we had to be patient multiple times despite us not saying a single thing and her spending a long amount of time with the table next to us right after. Our server also passed us multiple times and went to said table to ask if they needed anything despite me trying to get her attention to clarify our order since she didn’t bother to ask if I wanted my coffee hot or cold or etc when we first ordered. overall good food but I felt like we weren’t valued as customers compared to other people in the restaurant. Not sure if it’s a race thing as we’re Asian and other customers are white, but it tends to feel that way when I’m in predominantly white food establishments and the only poc. Sucks as I do try to be positive and patient especially when this is a place I had highly anticipated going to and it was very busy so I understand longer wait times.

Nice diner, friendly service but they could not get fried eggs without runny yolks right. My wife had ordered medium eggs. When it has come out runny she asked if they could cook it so the yolks weren't runny. They remade the eggs but it was still runny as the first. She asked if they could just give her eggs that had hard yolks. The third time, one would expect to be correct but the eggs were still as runny as the first. She finally gave up and ate around the yolks, resulting in a disappointing experience. The rest of our meals turned out fine. I had also ordered a coffee which never came.

I went during the busiest time probably, but the food was NOT worth the hour wait! The staff was wonderful, the atmosphere was nice, but I got the jalapeño popper hashbrowns and they were not good! I would’ve rather driven 15 minutes to Woodstock to get breakfast there!

It doesn’t get better than this. Lives up to all of its hype - the food, the staff, the ambience. I will dream of this place. Please never change Phoenicia Diner. Your pancakes are the best I’ve ever had! 🫶🤧😭🥞

My husband and I have been here multiple times as we frequently hike in the Catskills. Sadly, the last two experiences ensured we will never return.
I’ll start with saying that I understand this is a busy location but that was never the issue. The behavior experienced from the staff was the concern.
The worst instance was with a waitress, who I will not mention by name. She came up to our table, skipping the pleasantries, never introducing herself and just saying “hi”. We had been waiting for a while so we said we were ready to order. She said she wasn’t, and just said she’d be taking drink orders. When she came back to take our food order, we very clearly stated “3 pancakes”. When our order came out with 5, we intended to tell her of the mistake, which really was no problem as we weren’t going to eat them and asked to not be charged for them. She never came back to check on us until she gave us our check. The issue wasn’t the mistake in the order but her behavior rather. She became immediately defensive, telling us we said 5 and she wasn’t “going to argue with us”.
The last time we were there, we had a different waitress. We didn’t expect she was our waitress because she kept taking orders from 3 different groups of people that were sat after us. When we asked another staff who our waitress was, she said the waitress would be right over. We expressed our concern because people were eating who had been sat after us and we hadn’t even had our drink order taken yet. The staff member told us “everyone came in at the same time”, which was a little frustrating because it wasn’t true. Finally, our waitress came over to tell us she’d be right with us and then turned her back to us and took the food order of a group that had come in 3 people after us, before ever asking us if we’d like coffee.
These experiences left us disappointed in the service. I won’t mention the waitresses by name that we had poor experiences with, but I will say, we had Karen one morning and she was lovely. Hopefully, she can rub off some of her kind energy onto the other staff.
Classic vibes, best pancakes, great and quick service. A tried and true gem for the area, and while touristy also just really good.
