Great little breakfast place. Does get a bit noisy when it's full.

A rustic diner that specializes in breakfast. The staff is sweet, the place tends to be quiet and the prices are great. The crowd is older blue collar families so it's definitely not a hipster place. We always have breakfast here at least once any time we visit.

Soooo, let me tell you about my Hungry Bear experience... The food was phenomenally delicious, the service was better than good, and the friendly atmosphere and customers par none. A whole lot of food for not a lot of money. I was beyond pleased. Oh, and did I say I was able to park my semi there too. If, you ever find yourself in and around the Plattsburgh, New York area, do not do yourself the disservice of not grabbing a bite here. It's worth every bit of your time and money. Nuff said!

Food was ok. Service was horrible. If you weren’t a local, it seems like they don’t want anything to do with you. Won’t even check on you after you get served your food. Shame, as my company has a yard around there.

This is a basic diner. The atmosphere is casual. The service is middling. You can get breakfast all day. The menu has plenty of options, and they run regular specials. I wouldn't recommend the waffles, though--I'm pretty sure mine were toaster waffles. They offer a wide range of desserts, and I haven't figured out if they are coming right out of a box, or if they are made onsite, using prefab crusts and fillings. Either way, this isn't a French bakery; it's more like a truck stop.

Excellent food, great service and very friendly staff. The restaurant is a small, country style little place. Very quaint, inviting and comfortable.

Had a wonderful breakfast here. Pancakes were the size of Frisbees and the home fries were delicious. (say yes to the added onions). The staff were friendly and service was quick. Will be back.

This place is great, always pleasant when I visit. It in some ways like a diner, but much more personal.I have tried everything from hot turkey to liver and onions, many of the various fresh baked pies, it's all been great.I know Plattsburgh isn't a big town, but if you happen to find yourself there, be sure to check it out. They do close like 2pm, so not a dinner place, but fantastic for breakfast or lunch..

Great little local breakfast spot. Visiting the area from Canada. Had a lovely breakfast with the family here. Reasonably priced dishes, great coffee, and a wonderful cozy lodge atmosphere ?

Tucked away on a side street away from the main town of Plattsburgh, the Hungry Bear is clearly a local favorite. Set in what appears to be a reconstituted log cabin that has since expanded, this diner offers some classic breakfast dishes where you simply mix and match what you'd like (eggs, pancakes, meats, etc...).For our meal we had the veggie omelette (very good) and Combo Ten (Biscuits with Sausage Gravy and Eggs...really very good with tasty gravy and good ole biscuits) with coffee that I found a like on the weak side. Service was good overall and our waitress was friendly though not always present (I think they may have been short staffed given the number of patrons versus waiters on the floor). There is a main room and a small annex with a large cutaway window looking into the main room. We sat in the annex where the air conditioner was blasting away making it quite cold...slight bummer. Also, the annex area is not frequented as much as the main room so do your best to sit there. Enjoy!
