2/5/25 Hadn't been to The Pepper in probably 4 or 5 years until tonight. Always use to order my fave Shrimp and Chorizo Quesadillas. They were always scrumptious with bold bright flavors, tasting each ingredient separately which enhanced every bite. Until tonight. I was so excited to re-experience them. They were terrible! They were crap! Gone were the individual flavors of delicate plump shrimp, spicy zingy moist chorizo morsels, tangy melted cheese, and light flakey shells disappointingly replaced with 4 wedges of tough bland cardboard drizzled with a now lackluster crema. What in Hell happened to them? A side note, it is STILL cold in there. The heaters do not help! We had to keep our coats on. And lastely, the chairs are SO uncomfortable and the decor tired. The Pepper could be so much more. P.S. the salsa the gets served initially with chips is raunchy, ingredients way too large, color is brownish from too much cumin or chili powder or ?
Ordered the chili. Was horrible. No meat or tomato sauce. Just a bowl of black beans in black sauce. Couldn’t eat it. Told waitress but just got charged for it with no apology.

Food was good but was missing ingredients. Our server acted like we didn't exist. Never gave us refills i had to ask one of the other servers for them. She never checked on us after we got our food to see how it was so over all no thanks.

Cool little place with inside and outside seating. We sat outside on a sunny Saturday in September. It was warm in the sun and there was a festival nearby so music was in the air. Drinks were cold and delicious. We shared the chicken tacos with beans and rice meal (Yummy)! Also had the queso with chips (pretty good but needed more flavor and poblano peppers) and the (complimentary) salsa and chips. The chips were fresh made. Wasn't thrilled with the salsa though. Seemed to have some kind of seasoning that didn't add to the flavor in a good way. I thought it tasted like the seafood seasoning you'd get in Louisiana on your crawdads. LOL They used to make fresh chopped salsa that was sooooo good! But they obviously changed the way they make it. ? The waitress was very attentive and quick. Check for the 2 of us, before tip, was only $40+ so it's reasonably priced. I'd always recommend The Pepper because the food is terrific and it's located in the downtown area so it's easy to find parking and to walk to.
Parking: There's a public parking lot less than a block away in both directions and there's street parking but that is very limited because outdoor seating areas are actually in the parking spaces in front of the restaurants. Very typical in Plattsburgh in the summer where most places offer outdoor seating.

Love the margaritas. The food is good, but the sides rice and beans can be too spicy. Some things have good flavors, and others taste bland. We have been going there for over 15 years and definately have noticed the change.

The food was AWFUL! My nacho chips were soggy, and the dish had clearly been sitting out for a while because my meal was cold. Lacking in flavor, and “tomatillo salsa” was simply halved tomatoes- not even tomatillos- and the shredded chicken tasted like PORK.
Margarita was good. That’s about it.
…and I NEVER send my food back to the kitchen, but I HAD TO.

Still don't get their policy of not seating you unless everybody in your party is not there, especially when they are not busy. Must give a thumbs up on the food, way better than in the past.

This little patio style Mexican cantina is cute, however, the locals that go are loud and over bearing when they are drinking. The staff is friendly but sadly the food is absolutely terrible. It seems as if it is Walmart frozen foods microwaved and burned. I would not recommend…
