Absolute favorite place to get Japanese in the mid-Hudson Valley. Great food, I highly recommend their bento boxes, and excellent service.

This place is great! The sushi was amazing. My daughter enjoyed her tuna roll and I got a shrimp tempura. The side of rice was huge and tasty. The service was fast and friendly. It's a nice little place.

Kind of a hole in the wall. Clean enough and the food was good, but the portions were small for the price. Worth trying, at least once.

This restaurant is truly authentic and has tradional dishes like monkfish liver everything we ordered was spectacular and simply melted in our mouths. Ordering monkfish liver twice the delicate appetizer was beautifully presented it was fantastic. Also ordering tuna toro, yellowtail belly, salmon belly, stripe bass, scallop shasmi OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS. Also ordered salmon belly sushi MELTED IN OUR MOUTHS. Also had tobiko and ikura with quail eggs sushi AGAIN OUTSTANDING. Uni sushi was DELICIOUS. Kent and Christy were welcoming kind and we cannot wait to see you soon for OMAKASE!!! HOT SAKE IS DELICIOUS We highly recommend for 1, 2, 3, 4 or more .. take out is available. Thank you for your service and a wonderful amazing dinner!!

Tokyo Tavern is hands-down the best Sushi Restaraunt in Dutchess County...and maybe even the entire Hudson Valley.I lived in Manhattan for 20 years, and I can say with confidence that Tokyo Tavern bests 95%+ of the sushi restaurants in NYC. So being the best in the Hudson Valley is actually a layup in that context!I have been to Japan, and Tokyo Tavern holds its own even amongst the best sushi restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto.Be sure to try the Seafood Soup, with generous portions of Shrimp, Crabmeat, Scallops, a fantastic home made broth, and vegetable goodies to boot. The fish is phenomenal, and the reason why is because Tokyo Tavern does not use the distributors that all of the other sushi joints in the HV use - the owner personally goes down to the Seaport in Manhattan for all of the fish served at Tokyo Tavern. Tokyo Tavern was actually open for over 15 years in Manhattan (Midtown East), so it's no wonder that it is far better than anything else in the HV. Competition makes things good, and you will notice the difference!Be sure to ask the chef about any specials as they often have some hidden gems on offer.I don't eat rolls because I prefer sushi and sashimi, so I can't personally vouch for those, but I've seen many a platter of sushi rolls come out of the kitchen and they look fantastic! I really should try a roll sometime, but the sushi and sashimi is so good that I just stick with what I love. The decor is simple traditional Japanese style. But let's be honest - you're coming here for the fish!Highly Recommended!

A nice restaurant in a well-decorated home and generous portion sizes. The service was good and the food was good.
