“Had the pleasure of choosing Tara Inn for lunch today, every establishment can learn a lesson from the customer service that my friend and I experienced. Upon walking in we were greeted by Peter, Tara’s husband and son-in-law of the founder who named the bar for his daughter 47 years ago. We told him it was our first visit and he offered us seats and welcomed us. The regulars at the bar guided us through the menu and we each had a burger with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles for $1 per burger expecting very small burgers we were surprised to find them standard sized and deliciously prepared to medium. My friend had the fried shrimp and I had a $13 steamed lobster! Excellent! They offer daily specials and one of the gentleman at the bar told me their steaks are very good. Every staff person went out of their way to make us feel at home. A charismatic women came out from the back and introduced herself as Tara she thanked us for choosing to lunch there. Why can’t other places realize the importance of making a first time patron feel welcome. I
Had a great afternoon enjoying the excellent variety of beers that they provide on tap. The charming decor has probably changed little since the ‘70s and that adds to the vibe. If you want to go to the friendliest bar on Long Island, head over to Tara Inn.“

“As a musician who has played so many bars all over NY state I must say the environment at Tailgsters is so incredibly special. First, they treat the bands with love and respect. It should be the norm but sadly it’s not always the case. They go above and beyond. From the ownership to every single enologee that works there, it’s impossible not to absolutely love every person associated with this bar. The crowd is great and super friendly and safe and I genuinely look forward to playing there again. They treat their customers, staff; and performers like family. Really like family. I am so grateful that we’ve played there twice and I’m already looking to playing there again. Michelle behind the bar is a genuinely great person and makes awesome drinks, but every single person there is so approachable and engaging. I can recommend Tailgsters as a genuinely fun environment that treats everyone like family. I look forward to just visiting when I’m not playing. Impressed is a huge understatement. “Patrons, bar tenders and owner very friendly and welcoming. I went in by myself, started hitting some pool balls, a patron came up to me and asked if I wanted to play a game. After we played a few games he introduced to some of other guys and gals there. Really nice time for me. When in the area I go back, very relaxing.

“While traveling for my son’s baseball tournament in Yaphank, NY my family and friends stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant!! Everything from the food to the staff is incredible!! I highly recommend this place and so did everyone else we went with (we brought 15 people with us). Everyone cleaned their plate and these are not small portions! The food is extremely fresh and there is a great sense of pride in their product. We loved our experience here and we will absolutely return when we come back in August!!“

“Happened upon this restaurant while visiting Port Jefferson. And glad we did. Got here early enough that we could get a table right away. Steve took great care of us without being overbearing. We started off with the stuffed mushrooms, which were so freaking good. For main course my husband got the Chicken & Sausage Scarpiello, and I had the Veal Scallopini - both were delicious. We finished off sharing the Rainbow Cookie Cheesecake. This exceeded my expectations. Everything was so good that my husband wants to go back tomorrow!“

The staff at Del Fuego are really what set it apart. Bartenders like Jess or Kameryn make all the difference. “Our daughter made her confirmation this morning and we decided (15 of us) to make a reservation at Spiros for the after party for the family. First of all, the food was excellent. Everything that came out was delicious and fresh and the timing between our appetizers and main couse was perfect. Our server Ashley was an 11/10, she must have checked back 100 times with us throughout the course of the meal, and literally waited on us and our children hand and foot, if the owner reads this review, throw this girl a bonus because she's an absolute rockstar! (Coming from a family including local restaurant owners) - but in all seriousness a huge thank you to Spiros for making this special occasion so memorable for us. We have been here before and will absolutely be back soon, this place is a local treasure!“
