Barito Tacos & Cocktails

First of all it's a hidden gem. You have to look or you will pass it lol. There is stairs to the restaurant so be prepared to climb. But the food is worth it. Very friendly staff. Sunny with large windows and comfortable seating. Great for parties . Definitely will be going back. I had nachos with shredded steak. Was delicious.

Wasn't a huge fan of the margaritas, but overall Baritos was a very pleasant experience.

We were invited to a rehearsal dinner here! Everything was perfect!! The food and drinks, the wait staff was super attentive and the atmosphere was exceptional!!! Definitely would love to go back when in Port Jefferson!!!

I am so disappointed in my time here today. This is normally my friends and I favorite Mexican restaurant that we have been to countless times. The food is always great but the service today was horrendous. Our server JENNA S was utterly so rude and disrespectful. She had no care to be our server and wasn't attentive at all. On top of that she gave us an issue when splitting our check as we were 6 guests. She asked us to write on the back of the receipt which items were on which check (2 checks total). She did not explain why there was an automatic 20% service charge when we asked as she didn't even deserve a single penny. Then, was getting frustrated with us as she did not separate them correctly was mocking us, rolled eyes, giving attitude, raising her voice, and laughing at us as she walked away. As a bunch of teenage girls trying to get dinner at our favorite place we were all so so upset. I am extremely disappointed with my time here at Barito today all because of our horrible server Jenna S.

JENNA. Worst service I have ever received. Horrible customer service, Poor attitude, Disrespectful. We had a problem with our check that could have been avoided but JENNA got rude and laughed as she walked away with attitude. Never again will I go back and stay far away Jenna ruined our night.

Love this place sooo much! The employees are always so nice, the food is always awesome, but I feel like the cleanliness is a little lacking! The lamps are insanely dusty (the windows are open so I’m always worried about a dust shower) and there’s holes and paint peeling on the walls.

Stopped into Barito and ate at the bar before going to meet a group of people for drinks.

Food: Shrimp tacos - very little spice or flavor. Smallish portion, middle of the road price for what it was. Had to add hot sauce just to give it some flavor. Shrimp was cooked well. Salsa was fresh, but a bit lacking in flavor as well.

Service: Was very good - efficient and friendly. Bar itself was slow but a fair amount of tables, so the bartender was steady the whole time. Got a few marginata's - both were good, balanced drinks. Asked me how everything was and if I needed anything in appropriate times. The hostess greeted me coming in and upon me leaving. Seemed to have good amount of staff for the space as well.

Atmosphere: Clean and good amount of space. Nightclub setting in the evening with (at least that night) a younger college crowd, but good set up for that. Bar was pretty good, had a few TVs - one was playing Bob Ross the whole time and under the TV was some Bob Ross memorabilia, which was funny - and a so/so tequila offering for a Mexican style restaurant.

I'd go back for drinks, for sure, as the service was good and it's in a good location. fairly close to the water and near a large public parking lot.

This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had lately. The ambiance and vibes were great, but service was terrible and food was hit or miss. I highly recommend the nachos, it was the only enjoyable food we ate (all of the
tacos were bland and boring despite sounding fantastic). I loved my drink, the color change margarita. My two friends found their standard margaritas undrinkable, important to note, my friend loved her margs a week prior so it probably depends on the bartender. And the cherry on top was the atrocious service. Our waitress never once asked how our food was, we had to ask the manager and a bus boy for her multiple times, it’s like we were a forgotten child.

Take advantage of Taco Tuesday and the happy hour specials and you will not be disappointed. We ate at the bar and the bartender was terrific. The guacamole and chips (round and large) were unique, the chips could have used a little more salt, but overall good and the tacos were super fresh. Did I mention the $5 happy hour drink is a huge plus. The restaurant is very colorful and open. Check this place out amigo.

I had my husband’s 60th birthday there, yesterday. Matt and Paula could not have been more helpful and accommodating. They handled our party of 20 with attentive ease. The entire staff was on point . A wonderful time was had by all! Thank you Barrito!

First time going to this restaurant and the bouncers are very rude, they let in underage kids that are very rude. I honestly wouldn’t return to this restaurant/club. Definitely better places in port jefferson.
