Wow. This is a prime location, selling seafood in a seaside community, and it’s simply not very good. Sorry to say, most disappointing “restaurant” experience in years.

Great place to grab lunch on a nice day, with plenty of outside seating on the patio. Food was good and reasonably priced. Had the $26 lobster roll, on a hot dog bun. Where else can you find a lobster roll at that price? The lobster is plain with no mayo but comes with a side of melted butter. Also had a cup of clam chowder. Both very tasty. Excellent friendly service.

The Steam Room is an absolute must-visit for incredible seafood and unbeatable views! The star of the menu for me is their lobster roll—packed with sweet, tender lobster meat, lightly dressed so the flavor shines, and served on a perfectly toasted bun. It’s generous, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Pair it with their crisp fries or a cup of chowder and you’ve got the perfect seaside meal.
What really makes this place special is the amazing view of the ferry right from your table. You can sit outside, enjoy the sea breeze, and watch the boats come and go—it’s relaxing and so uniquely coastal. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, ideal for everything from a quick lunch to a leisurely dinner.
The staff is friendly and efficient, keeping everything running smoothly even when it’s busy. If you’re anywhere near the waterfront and craving fantastic seafood with a true harbor vibe, The Steam Room is the place to go. Fresh food, great service, and that beautiful ferry view make it a five-star experience every time!

Not friendly owners at all. Shame on them for how they treat their customers.
I grew up eating at the steam room and always had a great experience until today. My husband and I took our 2 boys in for an early dinner around 4:30 on a Friday night. Having been a server previously, we made sure to arrive before the dinner rush so that we didn’t disturb their prime time dinner clientele. Our youngest started to cry when it was time for his bottle so I quickly got him situated. While making the bottle and unbuckling him, one of the servers (who I feel bad for that he even had to relay such a message) walked over and told us that if the baby doesn’t stop crying, the owner/ his boss will probably ask us to leave. He stated that he’s done it before in the past. I was shocked and immediately lost my appetite which was already ruined by the heavily floured bland clam strips that had the consistency of rubber bands and the watery oysters. I always thought of the steam room as a family friendly casual establishment, but I will not be returning after being shamed for my crying baby who cried for all of 3 minutes.

We didn’t have much time before our ferry to CT and stepped into the Steam Room, which was a casual seafood spot conveniently located just across from the ferry port.
When we asked if we could order food to go quickly, the staff was helpful and told us the lobster rolls would be quick, so we ordered 2 lobster rolls and a clam chowder to go. (plus a Diet Pepsi, which was full of ice)
The clam chowder was nice and the lobster rolls were good, too, although they were a bit small and I prefer toasted buns.
The lobster rolls come with butter and lemon. Without them, it doesn’t have much taste—especially the bun.
The Steam Room was a good option for takeout food, but I think we would try other places for dining in next time.

Served our lunch to somebody else’s table. Neither good or smart!
I was excited to have lobster today. I got the lobster tail for $25 and it was literally two bites. I left still hungry.

I’m sure this place is great, like seriously, everyone I know has great things to say about it and I think I just got unlucky. Do NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES get the crab cake on a bun it’s actually terrible I’m warning you right now get literally anything else it will be better than that. Don’t get me wrong, it’s edible but everything about it was just severely wrong. Absolutely no shade to anyone that works there because their other food looked rlly good I was just in the mood for crab cake and this was disgraceful. It honestly didn’t even look like a crab cake it just looked really unfortunate. It tasted even more unfortunate. Don’t let this review turn you away, my friend got fish tacos and really liked them and I know a lot of people that like this place so I trust that it’s actually really good, I like shrimp a lot so I’ll probably get that next time. The staff was really nice and I love the port Jeff harbor. Anyways! Don’t get the crab cake sandwich
The food was horrible had the fish tacos and my daughter had surf turf for 35.00 steak looked like hamburger patty and fish tacos was frozen not fresh

THE FOOD SUCKS. There is no taste what so ever in their food. It is, as if they took your food from the bathtub and put it on your plate. Thankfully the service was kind and accommodating for the lack of culinary skills the kitchen doesn’t have. They might be use to this by now by the way they were so apologetic. $120 wasted was the only experience I can take away from this place.
What I had
Fish tacos ( cardboard with tomato’s)
Lobster roll( dry) should be called lobster and bread.
Oysters( best thing I had) they should at least serve it on ice being that it is raw.
I am all for a shack dining experience but they was the worst place I have ate at in years.
