Definitely a hidden gem in Potsdam. My husband and I had several excellent and delicious lunches. This is THE place to buy steaks. The steaks are exceptional fresh or properly aged. We purchased aged delmonico which was half the cost from Wegmans. We’ve now had multiple purchases of picanha beef. These picanha beef are most yummy and inexpensive beef. I highly recommend the place for meal or purchase meats.

I picked a pound of Boudin sausage for tonight's dinner along with some kimchi. We baked our sausage low and slow and served it with a marmalade -ground mustard - horseradish dipping sauce and garlic toast points. It has snappy casing, a soft rich interior with a bit of heat. Reminded me of Hungarian Hurka sausage we would make every fall. Nice!

The location is on the corner of Main Street where the old first Crush used to be. The wall length mirror is still there with seating for those who like to dine in. Last summer I reached out to Jon because it was going to be my parents 60th wedding anniversary and my brother and I wanted to do something special. Jon is a trained chef and a family friend so I asked if he would be willing to do a private party for my parents. He did an excellent job! He took what I told him my parents liked and also that my mom was vegetarian, and created a celebration dinner that did not disappoint. I believe he does catering and events now so I'm proud we were his first! I went back for lunch when I went to NY this summer and took my parents, my oldest son and his friend who was visiting from Spain. The bahn mi was ordered with tofu, Reuben sandwiches, and BLT. Let me tell you these are not your ordinary everyday sandwiches! Jon has put his chefs touch on his menu and it is extraordinary. My father repeated several times that his Reuben was the best Reuben he'd ever eaten. (It had kimchi on it and my dad had never had kimchi!) Becky is Jon's partner and she was our server. She was excellent and helpful. Jon offers a meat case at the back of the shop and runs a daily special. If you are ever in Potsdam, be sure to stop in for lunch and take home his locally sourced products. You will not be disappointed.

Hoof and Horn catered my wedding and it was literally in all ways the most perfect food and set up that you could ever imagine. Communication with the owners was consistent and very easy through out the planning process. My now husband and I are so impressed with the taste and quality of the food, and even things down to the specific silverware they chose. If you’re looking for a private party catering event…this is who you want to go with a thousand percent! Thank you both so much…you made our wedding dreams come true:)
