My family heard about La Cabanita while attending a Oaxacan Guelaguetza presentation at the Poughkeepsie Library. We were intrigued by the mole-making history and the samples offered during this event. We finally got a chance to come back to Poughkeepsie. We enjoyed their mole. Two words: Pozole and Mole. Go. Try both for a wonderful explosion of flavor. The Pozole was chock full of hominy, pork, cabbage and more with a rich and spicy broth. The chicken mole had a deep rich texture that lingered on the taste buds. Service was excellent and the bill was very reasonable.
