a speakeasy-kinda spot hidden inside a Taiwanese restaurant! i've bookmarked this place for awhile and finally got to try it recently.

the place had great ambience and they played a lot of Jolin Tsai and Jay Chou while i was there. the menu is fun in that the drinks are named after classic CPop songs. i got the "most familiar stranger" (because, shoutouts to Elva Hsiao!!!) and my companion tried "a smoking poet". my drink was complex and well balanced, the soy milk + soy sauce maple foam was DELICIOUS. it reminded me of the cream foam top in bobas. we also tried the sweet potato fries and plum powder and that was good too.

overall, it was a well-executed concept and i had a great time. i'd love to come back!

I'm a longtime customer who used to be satisfied, but cannot stand the unprofessionalism and lying I've been served with.

Received text message at 12:21 that table was available within next ten minutes, arrived at 12:30. Rude hostess promptly insisted the text I received was a lie and that the bar was closed since 12:15. When pressed on why I received a text saying to arrive ten minutes after 12:21, was told this never happened and repeatedly called a liar by hostess. I don't mind of the bar is closed, but don't ever lie to me like this, or claim I am the liar. Despicable and unconscionable behavior by hostess.

Excellent cocktails, I've been here three times now and am always looking forward to coming back!

They have rotated the menu frequently enough across the past half year or so for things to feel fresh, but their flavors remain consistent as well. I think Chinese/Taiwanese inspired flavors are underutilized in the mixology space, and this is one of a few bars in the city that does it incredibly well.

The bartenders are also very friendly and attentive. I might be biased because I always sit at the bar though. One time, me and a friend ordered two drinks to share and as we were chatting, one of the bartenders saw that we weren't drinking one of them and asked if we didn't like it as much and wanted him to make a new one. We told him that we actually really enjoyed it but it definitely left an impression on me that he cared enough to speak up. That just goes to show how passionate the bartenders are in my opinion, and is definitely a big part of why I will continue to go back!

I don’t live in NY anymore but this place is a must-visit every time I’m back in town. Drinks are better than Double chicken please, Ye’s apothecary, peachy’s and some of the other Asian-themed bars/speakeasies in Manhattan. Highly recommend!

Was about an hour wait for friday night. Drinks were mediocre for $18 and felt like there was very little alcohol in there. We got the pork over rice with egg and flavor was not there. Environment was nice, pretty dark, loudish music if thats your vibe. Not worth the wait.

Atmosphere: Hong Kong 80s themed speakeasy behind a Taiwan take out kitchen. Went on a weekend and it was rather loud because of the acoustics and DJ.

Drinks: Asian themed drinks which can be hit or miss depending on your preference. Of note, pretty heavy pours.

Service: Courteous and fast.

Overall, seems to be frequented by LIC locals (under 30 crowd). Would only recommend if one is in the area but not in lieu of more established Asian cocktail joints in NYC like Double Chicken Please and Angels Share.
