Rolo’s 853 Onderdonk Ave, Queens Bar & Grill • $$$

“Rolo's, a restaurant in Williamsburg/Brooklyn, has received positive reviews from customers. The Double Cheeseburger with $3 Bacon Addition is praised as the "most flavorful and wonderfully textured burger" in years, with the pickled pepper adding an interesting accompaniment. The polenta bread is described as simple but delicious, and the Strawberry Passionfruit Punsch is a nice blend of rum, strawberry cordial, passion fruit, and lime tiki bitters. While the burgers may have a slightly burnt taste for some, the crispy potatoes "war style" are a standout. The service is great, and the cozy atmosphere, despite being a bit loud, is appreciated. The wait for the food is worth it, with recommendations including the Polenta bread, Wood fired chicken with mint pesto sauce, and the Two sheet lasagna, an interesting take on a classic. The Rhubarb almond tart is very sweet and may not suit all palates.”

“I love Mohamed, Kassim (Owner), Ramzi, Ahmad, Omar#1 (morning grill guy) and Alex. Absolute legends. They had Marlon, David, and host of others helping them, they just get employed and disappear. I love their food service, even my dad loved their hamburgers at one point until they start messing up on that. One of the best bodega stores in South Ozone Park. I used to go here for breakfast and Dinner. Nonetheless, I love this place, but at times it could be too addictive. I did go here in the daytime at one point, the night crew here is all screwed up. The guy (Omar# 2) that cover the register hardly pays attention ever and he look at you stupid like he doesn't know English and keep stepping out when you trying to order or buy something. Night chef (Truck) there is cool, but he half steps most of the time. Also, there's a guy there with a folded-up ear, that's Omar#2 (night register guy). He works at the register at night. He's cool but slow at the same time. Nonetheless, this is my favorite bodega in the history of the South Ozone Park community. Still my go-to store, but lately I don't go there nearly as much.”

“Who needs to go to Istanbul Turkey when you have real authentic Turkish doner (gyro) right here on queens boulevard. I met chef Omer in the gas station after he had shut down and was going to get gas for his generator for the next day. After talking with him for a bit I realized how passionate he was about preparing quality food. As his truck is parked only a few blocks away from the gas station i promised i would go and try his food. I felt that it would be very good but boy was I way off the mark because it was EXCELLENT. You can't call this truck food or cart food because this is high level restaurant quality food that is being prepared. He makes his Doner/gyro cones fresh himself having been a restaurant owner previously. All his ingredients are top-notch. His salad is actually mixed greens with pickles, fresh onions if you want and the most ripe red tomatoes. So far and above what other trucks and carts are doing. If it wasn't for being underneath the train and eating on Queen's boulevard you would think you were eating in a restaurant. I highly recommend that you go try out this excellent portrayal of Turkish food. Go see Chef Omer and tell him the Greek sent you and you saw this on Google Maps. He now has a tiktok and Instagram. So get to him before he becomes the next Tiktok trend.”

KimGaNae 48-18 Northern Blvd, Queens Korean

“KimGaNae, located in Flushing and now also at LIC HMart, offers a variety of Korean dishes like kimbap, dukbokki, triangle kimbap, rice dishes, curry pork cutlets, dumplings, and noodle soup. The soft opening had some service delays and a hair found in the food, but the omuri was tasty. The Bulgogi kimbap was enjoyable with a good portion size. Despite some initial hiccups, the spicy octopus over rice was delicious and worth it, especially with a 30% discount for the grand opening. Service was good, although there were some delays in getting orders. The shared seating area can be busy, but overall, KimGaNae is a promising spot for Korean food, and the reviewer plans to return for more.”
