“I visited them today because I was craving their beef arancini so bad but then I saw some new items in the show window so I had to get the pecan tart and pumpkin pie.Pumpkin pie (seasonal until thanksgiving) was so flavorful and delicious. I'm not a huge fan of rich and heavy desserts but it was so so good. And idk if you know but I'm a HUGE FAN of pecan tart, and this might've made it to the top of the list. Just perfect amount of sweetness and DELICIOUS tart crust. Also look how even that thickness is.Thank you again for making my day Cerasella!!”
“Stopped in for a quick snack and glad we did! My group got a mix of savory and sweet snacks, including empanadas, and some churros and donut like treats. The empanadas were flavorful and we really enjoyed the potato in it however it seemed to lack meat in it. The flavor helped to earn it extra stars. Fun place to swing by and pickup treats and with quick service. It's also simply decorated but quality of the food was on point. Also there are punch cards for those who are frequently going which is a nice perk! I don't seem to see cafes doing that lately.”
“Good old school Italian bakery in Queens! been there a long time.If you want a box of some good old school Italian assorted cookies with sprinkles and good bread, then this is your spot..the italian cookies are my favorite and some of the best in the area.”
“I discovered this little spot coming from an appointment. I love trying new pastry shops so I decided to give them a try. Service was good. They offer a decent selection of fresh baked cookies and cakes. I opted to try a few slices of their cheese cakes & some cookies and a tart ? I also got a what I believe was the Nutella frozen cappuccino mmmmmh. It was delicious. As for the cookies, I can pass on. I didn’t find them sweet enough for my taste buds. They didn’t taste bad just not what I thought they would taste like. The cheese cake was delicious as well. They also offer breakfast sandwiches made to order and a decent beverage selection. Lastly they have a cute little seating outsideDefinitely a good spot to try if your in the neighborhood”
“Note: This review is only for the croffles because I am not the biggest fan of the other desserts provided here. There are so many croffle shops nowadays, but Croffle House remains one of the first to start the hype and is still my favorite. Ordered the Grape Croffle ($5.49) and Basil Pesto ($4.99). The croffles have a glazed crunchy exterior and a flaky yet fluffy interior. The dessert coffles' cream is not heavy and not too sweet, and the fruits are always fresh. The savory croffle has a nice heat from the red pepper flakes and pairs nicely with the pesto. I normally don't even like pesto, but I will always order this one when I'm here because it's so good. PS - Although I did not get it this time, one of my favorites is the blueberry cream cheese.”
“Anne does a magnificent job at making food and desserts that are delicious, unique and absolutely flavorful! I HIGHLY recommend visiting Pastries by Anne. You’ll find that it delivers the high-end taste and quality of treats that you can discover in places like Soho but right here in Astoria Queens! Plus, Anne and her team at Pastries by Anne are all so incredibly warm and welcoming! Trust me when I say, you’ll become a regular there easily, because it’s that good! ?”
“Really delicious desserts - baklava was absolute perfection and not overly sweet, cheese empanadas addicting as hell, and the caramel slice and pumpkin tarts were to die for. Met the really kind owner who gave us recs to try out and they did not disappoint. It's been more than a week and I haven't stopped dreaming of the baklava and cheese empanadas! Will be returning very soon.”
“Finally went to check this place out down the block. It's a small spot, but easy to find. Most foods are fried and they do a pretty good job with it. Got a double buger and some fried custard balls. The burger came with a soda a fried. Messy burger, not a super strong flavor, but satisfying and filling. Fried were really good. Dessert was nice too, never has anything like it.Went back for milk shake, way too milky and small, not worth $8.Am very interested in trying all the other stuff! Waffle chicken sandwiches, fried chicken and all those other goodies. Maybe I'll do breakfast next.”
“This place has the best pasta dishes and pizza out of all the places here in Whitestone. Service is great and prices are very reasonable. I love their wed salad specials and sometimes pasta specials. The best is their friday night one with a large cheese pie, garlic knots, salad, chicken wings, and 1 liter of soda all for $29.99; a true bargain! LOVE LOVE LOVE Tutto Calcio!!! please check it out you will not be disappointed!!! It's a gem.”
“My brother bought a box of cookies and brownies for my birthday and shipped them all the way to Chicago for me as he knows how hard it is for me to find desserts that I can eat. I was so happy to get baked goods that work with both my gluten and dairy allergy! I will definitely be buying from them again. I highly recommend the grassroots and chocolate brownies!”
“It's been a hot hot hot minute since I came here after I moved to Long Island Suburbs. My son's big day today and I took a trip here to pick up my custom strawberry cake layered with their famous lightly sweetened freshly whipped cakes. When you step inside It's as if you step back in time. My mom first took me here when I was 11 or 12 and this place still look the same. The bakery captures a lot of customers from the surrounding businesses such as the hospital. It's great to see a flow a diverse crowd visiting this Gem. I also picked up half dozen curry beef pastry and their chicken rolls. I took a bite and taste just like my first time eating them in the 1990s when I was a little boy. When I want a good delicious healthier cake I come to Yeh's.”
“Best cookies ever !!! Got some cookies first time and a oatmilk latter and it’s amazing!!! Cookies are so delicious and fresh I got one with banana and peanut butter and pistachio I loved it! Latte was very good!!! I recommend the place !!”
“Al Sham is a delightful haven for anyone with a sweet tooth. Their extensive selection of treats is truly impressive, and the friendly staff adds to the enjoyable shopping experience. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a scrumptious treat!”
“I recently tried the Ube croissant and Ube Cheesecake at this family-owned bakery, and they were exceptional! The Ube croissant had a perfect balance of flakiness and sweetness, while the Ube Cheesecake was rich and creamy with a delightful hint of purple yam flavor.”
“This spot offers a fantastic variety of pastries, croissants, and coffee. The open and spacious layout provides a relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the great vibes. Highly recommended – definitely worth a visit!”
“One-of-a-kind neighborhood bakery in the Whitestone area of Queens, NYC, NY.Simple, free, on-street parking, friendly staff and incredible fresh made selections. Also offering a number of chilled, pre-prepared goodies to take along.Enjoy a cup of coffee too while you wait.Crazy good!#buylocal#supportlocal”
“I enjoy visiting Parva before starting my workday or embarking on a Sunday adventure. Their diverse selection of breakfast sandwiches always hits the spot, and they offer adorable cakes in jars. The laundromat next door adds a layer of convenience, and they do provide a bathroom for customers.”
“A great bakery in a nondescript part of Elmhurst- it's one where you would have to drive or live in the hood to visit but def worth it. All the pastries and breads are delicious and very affordable. My favorite thing to get is the ST Honore - only on the weekends or holidays and after 9:30 but it's essentially a creme puff cake. If you love vanilla and creme puffs you have to get this”
“I didn’t wrote a negative review several days ago thanks a to a girl named Dechen who was able to manage a very unpleasant situation created from her coworker (a girl who was extremely rude). Today you are getting a 5 star review thanks to her! I came back to the shop and she apologised again on her coo worker behalf.Tasteful cookies and nice lates lose their power when you have your day ruined by someone who does not have the minimum politeness behaviour. Anyhow I do not want to focus on the negative things just saying train your staff (Dechen can train them on how to behave with the clients) and GIVE DECHEN A RISE! I am pretty sure that she is literally saving your business up there intervening in the right time when her coworker does nothing but a mess!”
“Loved working with Sabine on this project. We were celebrating the 30th birthday for our friend and dog lover and wanted something special. After considering several options, we loved the dedication Sabine seemed to show for her cakes on her site and requested a Corgi Cake. It came out amazing! We told Sabine to emphasize the butt (of course) and it was excellent. Amazing taste, lots of detailing, and all around joy and laughter at the unveil. Thank you Sabine!”
“Everything about this family-owned spot is incredible!! The croissants are to die for, the breakfast sandwich is so carefully crafted and the ingredients are really high quality - thick bacon, rich cheese, fresh bread. Get the onion jam on the breakfast sandwich, you won’t regret it! Astoria badly needed a great bakery with sourdough and good quality croissants. The sourdough loaf is the perfect size to buy and bring home for sandwiches. Bench Flour Bakers is my absolute favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. I’m so happy to see it crowded and successful!!!”
“It's a tiny bakery tucked between a spa and a restaurant. No table and probably can't fit more than 5 people inside. But boy....those baked good are so delicious. The best Portuguese egg tart!! I had the Earl Grey pound cake last time but they were sold out. Also, after talking to the owner, found out they only open Fri-Sun because they prep their goods from Mon-Thur. So will need to come on Fri to make sure everything's available.”
“The bakery makes all types of fresh breads. They also carry a large selection of Polish foods (Bratwursts, fried fish, fried chicken, soups, ,pierogies, as well as many desserts and cakes as well as refrigerated foods. You want great bread go here.”
“Great bakery with friendly staff. I pre-ordered a personal cake for a co-worker's birthday and it was ready the next day. They were helpful in describing the fillings for the cake and the flavoring of the cake as well as the design. The bakery was also very clean.Would definitely order a cake here again.”
“During my late teenage years my baby sister worked here afterschool so you know this was totally nostalgic for me to be passing by the area early on an Easter morning ride back from NJ. As I got closer I called because it was a holiday and absolutely delighted to be helped on such a beautiful day in the neighborhood. **They are cash only** Several cars were doubled parked towards the end of the block picking up flowers so I parked a few doors down and stepped inside. They had a beautiful tray of assorted pastries which I failed to take a photo of and I just HAD to have it. It had cannoli, cheese cake, cream puffs the works! I was looking for a birthday cake for my Puerto Rican granny and chose an Oreo cake over a strawberry shortcake and surprisingly I did not get clobbered over the head by my mother lol. She looked unpleased when I removed it from the box but when she ate it. I was like bang boom TOUCHDOWN! She said it was soft and moist and fluffy and light. The chocolate had the perfect amount of sweetness I must agree. Plus I already won when I brought home some Easter bread for the family to share. The only comment I got there was why didn't I buy a bigger loaf. I bought a cute little slipper shaped one with one egg and they had many options which was great. I see folks were coming in and out for cappuccinos and if I wasn't already wire from an early morning drive I would have Indulged. The cake was $25, the tray $20 and the Easter bread was about $10 if I can recall. I had 3 baby shower cakes from here 17 years ago and that's how good they were then. Super happy to see them still thriving and pumping out the good stuff. Only thing I will say is what's with the writing? I was hoping for classic script and the weekend crew gave me a very scribble "Gramma" in red. My family was like why did they spell it like that. Me- I was shocked like who buys a cake and doesn't look at it after they put in the writing was I in Lala land or what. Next time I'll check.”
“This man can bake!!! Hands ?? down!I got cannolis, pistachio biscotti and red velvet cookies. All delicious but we had me weak in the knees was a sample of his baklava!! So I’ve never really been a fan of baklava because it’s always usually to sweet. You can only eat a bite at a time. But this man’s baklava was so balanced I can’t explain it. It was more flavor than sweet. You got a hint a sweet in the beginning, then you got the pistachio and flaky pastry, at the end it was sweet again! So balanced so delicious. Best Baklava in the city on my momma! Fight me. ??”
“Definitely the best breakfast in the area. Great bagels, egg sandwiches. French Toast is great. Coffee is very good. The staff is very friendly, fast efficient. Even when I’m in a rush running to work and it’s crowded I can still grab something on the run.”
“I did a last minute personalized cake order for my friend’s Emo themed birthday party and Christina was so accommodating and patient with helping me figure out how to design the cake! I got red velvet flavor with cream cheese filling and let me tell you not only was the cake absolutely adorable it was DELICIOUS. Ignore the tiny hole around the cake because the picture was taken after we sang happy birthday. I made the order 2 days prior to picking it up so they seem very punctual. I also got a yummy piece of apple crumble cake and raspberry cheese strudel because everything in shop looked too good not to pick something out for a snack later! Can’t wait to come back :)”
“Hidden gem. It’s a small place with some big flavors. They make Smoked Herring patties that are soooooo delicious that getting them home can be a challenge because the smell of them emanating is so enticing you will want to open the box and grab one, once they get home that dozen disappears quickly. I also tried their Pikliz sauce they make and it was equally delicious. They also have other offerings but I haven’t gotten to them yet, but if they are anything like the Smoked Herring patties you’ll be in for a treat. Be advised they do cash only.”
“This is the go to place for egg tarts. It's been here forever, but 27 years. They had different variations of egg tarts, coconut, a few other flavors over the years. I've always gone to them for egg tarts over the years. It's sad to see them go, the owner is retiring so now everyone's going to get egg tarts 1 last time. The crust is flaky and perfect. The inside filling isn't overly sweet. They were open early in the morning and into the early evening, just after you got back from work. It's been a neighborhood staple and it will be missed. It was a small space but they made it work. You go in order and head out. No time to waste, gotta get these egg tarts home!Alexa play Time to say Goodbye, even though we don't want to.”
“Delicious food. Service can be a little slow BUT it's friendly and I don't mind hanging out in there.Get the Chyryry (yucca egg and cheese), get the Pollo I Love Paraguay (a sort of chicken curry over rice), and get any dessert that strikes your fancy (I don't know if they make it in house, but their chocolate cake is my favorite in Sunnyside).”
“They made me the most beautiful cake, even better than what I asked for, on my birthday last year. So helpful and they completed the task perfectly, even last minute, for an amazing price. I got the chocolate cake and it’s the best cake I have ever had, super moist and flavorful. 100/10 recommend, please consider supporting this bakery!”
“Lovely little Italian bakery with great service and prices. We got a blueberry cheese strudel and hazelnut lobster tail, which were both very good. Latte my wife got was also A+. They have lots of tables outside to sit with your treats. Definitely worth the walk. Support local excellence in Astoria!”
“Absolutely love this place! I’ve probably ordered over 200 of their crème brûlée since the start of Covid… not to mention to cookies, cheesecake, MILKSHAKES (love the mason jars they come in) staff is always extremely helpful and never fail to give that little bit of extra TLC that makes you want to go back again and again”
“Went to la nueva bakery today with my wife who is from Uruguay, we live far from bakery , but were craving fresh sandwiches so we went. I'm glad we did , the sandwiches were fresh and delicious, the portions are generous, we also tried the potato salad which was authentic and delicious, my wife tried the spinach pie which she loved and said it was just like the way her mom would make it , were saving the yummy donuts and churro for later , we recommend if you want delicious authentic Uruguayan food , fresh and very reasonable priced you must try la nueva bakery, thank you for great food and experience.”
“Monica (the owner) and the team make amazing cookies, fat macaroons, cookies, and mochi donuts. It's just the right amount of sweet (unlike traditional American desserts) and the fatcaroons are absolutely huge for its value. They recently also introduced hand made banana bread pudding as well.Great service, 5/5.”
“Serena is kind and professional and talented!! I was referred to her for my 50th birthday party and she was amazing! Ordering was easy, everything was ready on time and pickup was seamless! My guests loved the vanilla butter cupcakes and my family loved the strawberry, cookies & cream, lemon & strawberry I ordered before the party and my favorite was my private stash of red velvet!! She does not miss!! I highly recommend!”
“Was walking from MoMA PS 1 to meet friends for dinner, and stopped in to ogle the cakes! Expensive but beautiful and mouth watering. Patient, friendly staff answered my questions. Finally, just grabbed a Hojicha (roasted green tea) chocolate chunk cookie to go for later. Wow, YUM! Delicious in texture and flavor. Will have to try the cakes!”
“Empanadas are the real deal! People line up here most of the time but the staff is very efficient and accommodating that you pretty much get just the things you’d like and be out of there in a few mins. My apologies for the poor photo, forgot to take a pic until the last bite lol.”
“I've waited SO LONG to have Kora. And I 100% do not regret how long I've waited (and yes my friend did all the work to get the pre-order... heh.) but it was SO worth it - me and my friend ate all 5 donuts in one sitting. The donuts were absolutely beautiful. You can tell each were hand crafted with love. I got the october box and my favorite was the avocado and the maja blanca. Best coconut donut I've ever had in my life. All the donuts were light, and airy- a perfect brioche. The avocado reminded me of a Vietnamese avocado smoothie.Im excited to try new flavors by them and im so excited to see how they grow and expand.”
“This was a pretty good spot. I got some bread with cheese and ham that made a perfect savory breakfast. I heard the quality here has gone down since the pandemic, but I still think the baked goods are better than lots of places. If you're around this area, I would certainly recommend picking it over some of the others in the vicinity.”
“Delicious, quality, real food and goodies made with care right in front of you. We could see the owner herself carefully crafting our sandwich in the back. Doesn't get better than that. Thank you Tracy!Very polite staff. Highly recommended!”
“Everything here is good but the custom made cakes and one of the staff memebers who's always in a bad mood and condescending. Don't get me wrong their premade cakes are good! However I asked them to make a cake for me twice and every time they do it completely wrong. I would show them a pic and they would make a WISH version of the cake? asked for the first two pics on the left and they gave me a very simple cake on the right with the wrong dog design and plain, even the HAPPY Birthday wording was done so ugly and sloppy, spoke to the worker and got half my money back which I would say is good, but this is not the first time I send a pic and get a different color cake ?”
“Pastries are delicious — and you can easily see they are made with skilled hands and quality ingredients.Lots of unique flavors and savory options. Must try their signature mousse cakes — sublime!Plenty of comfy seating on two levels. Very inviting. And staff are friendly and make amazing coffee.Only con may be the eclairs do not taste peak freshness — the shell leans on the soggier side as if they’ve been sitting for longer than they should have.Kid-friendliness: Lots of space, clean, plenty of seating. But the doors are a pain to open — not smooth. The ramp that leads to the door isn’t even — so strollers/carts/wheelchairs likely to get stuck”
“This is going to by my weekly bubble tea spot. They were so friendly which is always a driving factor for a quality establishment for me. Price point was great. We only got teas today, but I can't wait to try some of their pastries. They looked beautiful and based on other people's reviews they're probably delicious. We got the brown sugar bubble milk tea and Passion fruit green tea with lychee popping boba and just look at that adorable little heart shaped tea stopper. I will be a frequent flyer here”
“I've waited way too long and I wish I haven't wasted all those years of just driving by. Canaan Bread has crossed my mind when I get the cravings...but like all loyal customers of Canaan Bread, when you know, you know. My better half took me here for a bite right before our road trip. The seating is limited so don't expect to sit to eat...but if there's a seat, grab it and enjoy Korean blessed diner style offerings. I had their avocado toast sammich and it was Babe Ruth. Yes, that means it's a homerun for me. As full as I was, I shoveled the rest of sammich (and my wife's chicken katsu) in my mouth. The best part was the prices are all very reasonable with the amount of food and quality of food offered. 15 minutes later, we walked out very happy and our clothes reeked of food which would normally bother me. But I was so satisfied with our brunch, I wore my food cologne proudly to our next destination (a small bookstore).”
“This is probably the best bakery in the area for pastries. Although there are quite a few in Astoria. This is where I would send someone if they wanted to sample Greek desserts, especially baklava. Al-Sham on Steinway would be a good option for the Arab version. They’re very nice people as well.”
“I went there yesterday, and the place is so nice , the vibe the people, food everything is perfect. The customer service is also very good. The corndog and donuts they sell are very tasty because they make it after you order so you can eat it freshly. Do visit if you live near by”
“My Grandma Dorothy always said, "A house guest should never show up empty handed." My go to item for making sure I have something delicious to bring is Bonelle's Rugulach , usually a mix of chocolate and raspberry. At $20 for a pound the cookies are not cheap, but they always are well appreciated. The owner is a hoot, a very nice woman who apparently is a neighborhood fixture.”
“My experience from start to finish was beyond my highest expectations. The ordering was easy, the website very well done, the choices and prices were clearly designed and explained. The checkout was quick and easy. They even called me to confirm the writing on the golden custom stickers we had made to order. The sweets were delivered to DC on time and were nicely packed and arrived in fresh and perfect condition. Overall, I am really impressed with the whole online experience. I will be giving them my own business in the future, and I will also recommend them to all my friends and family.”
