“My experience from start to finish was beyond my highest expectations. The ordering was easy, the website very well done, the choices and prices were clearly designed and explained. The checkout was quick and easy. They even called me to confirm the writing on the golden custom stickers we had made to order.The sweets were delivered to DC on time and were nicely packed and arrived in fresh and perfect condition. Overall, I am really impressed with the whole online experience. I will be giving them my own business in the future, and I will also recommend them to all my friends and family.”

“I visited them today because I was craving their beef arancini so bad but then I saw some new items in the show window so I had to get the pecan tart and pumpkin pie.Pumpkin pie (seasonal until thanksgiving) was so flavorful and delicious. I'm not a huge fan of rich and heavy desserts but it was so so good. And idk if you know but I'm a HUGE FAN of pecan tart, and this might've made it to the top of the list. “Stopped in for a quick snack and glad we did! My group got a mix of savory and sweet snacks, including empanadas, and some churros and donut like treats.The empanadas were flavorful and we really enjoyed the potato in it however it seemed to lack meat in it. The flavor helped to earn it extra stars. Fun place to swing by and pickup treats and with quick service. It's also simply decorated but quality of the food was on point. Also there are punch cards for those who are frequently going which is a nice perk! I don't seem to see cafes doing that lately.”

“I discovered this little spot coming from an appointment. I love trying new pastry shops so I decided to give them a try. Service was good. They offer a decent selection of fresh baked cookies and cakes. I opted to try a few slices of their cheese cakes & some cookies and a tart ? I also got a what I believe was the Nutella frozen cappuccino mmmmmh. It was delicious. As for the cookies, I can pass on. I didn’t find them sweet enough for my taste buds. They didn’t taste bad just not what I thought they would taste like. The cheese cake was delicious as well.They also offer breakfast sandwiches made to order and a decent beverage selection. “Note: This review is only for the croffles because I am not the biggest fan of the other desserts provided here.There are so many croffle shops nowadays, but Croffle House remains one of the first to start the hype and is still my favorite. Ordered the Grape Croffle ($5.49) and Basil Pesto ($4.99). The croffles have a glazed crunchy exterior and a flaky yet fluffy interior. The dessert coffles' cream is not heavy and not too sweet, and the fruits are always fresh. The savory croffle has a nice heat from the red pepper flakes and pairs nicely with the pesto. I normally don't even like pesto, but I will always order this one when I'm here because it's so good. PS - Although I did not get it this time, one of my favorites is the blueberry cream cheese.”

Met the really kind owner who gave us recs to try out and they did not disappoint. It's been more than a week and I haven't stopped dreaming of the baklava and cheese empanadas! “Finally went to check this place out down the block. It's a small spot, but easy to find. Most foods are fried and they do a pretty good job with it. Got a double buger and some fried custard balls. The burger came with a soda a fried. Messy burger, not a super strong flavor, but satisfying and filling. Fried were really good. Dessert was nice too, never has anything like it.Went back for milk shake, way too milky and small, not worth $8.Am very interested in trying all the other stuff! Waffle chicken sandwiches, fried chicken and all those other goodies. Maybe I'll do breakfast next.”

“It's been a hot hot hot minute since I came here after I moved to Long Island Suburbs. My son's big day today and I took a trip here to pick up my custom strawberry cake layered with their famous lightly sweetened freshly whipped cakes. When you step inside It's as if you step back in time. My mom first took me here when I was 11 or 12 and this place still look the same. The bakery captures a lot of customers from the surrounding businesses such as the hospital. It's great to see a flow a diverse crowd visiting this Gem. I also picked up half dozen curry beef pastry and their chicken rolls. I took a bite and taste just like my first time eating them in the 1990s when I was a little boy. “A great bakery in a nondescript part of Elmhurst- it's one where you would have to drive or live in the hood to visit but def worth it. All the pastries and breads are delicious and very affordable. I came back to the shop and she apologised again on her coo worker behalf.Tasteful cookies and nice lates lose their power when you have your day ruined by someone who does not have the minimum politeness behaviour. “Loved working with Sabine on this project. We were celebrating the 30th birthday for our friend and dog lover and wanted something special. After considering several options, we loved the dedication Sabine seemed to show for her cakes on her site and requested a Corgi Cake. It came out amazing! We told Sabine to emphasize the butt (of course) and it was excellent. Amazing taste, lots of detailing, and all around joy and laughter at the unveil. Thank you Sabine!”

The croissants are to die for, the breakfast sandwich is so carefully crafted and the ingredients are really high quality - thick bacon, rich cheese, fresh bread. Get the onion jam on the breakfast sandwich, you won’t regret it! Astoria badly needed a great bakery with sourdough and good quality croissants. The sourdough loaf is the perfect size to buy and bring home for sandwiches. Bench Flour Bakers is my absolute favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. I’m so happy to see it crowded and successful!!!”

“It's a tiny bakery tucked between a spa and a restaurant. No table and probably can't fit more than 5 people inside. But boy....those baked good are so delicious. The best Portuguese egg tart!! I had the Earl Grey pound cake last time but they were sold out. Also, after talking to the owner, found out they only open Fri-Sun because they prep their goods from Mon-Thur. So will need to come on Fri to make sure everything's available.”

“During my late teenage years my baby sister worked here afterschool so you know this was totally nostalgic for me to be passing by the area early on an Easter morning ride back from NJ. As I got closer I called because it was a holiday and absolutely delighted to be helped on such a beautiful day in the neighborhood. **They are cash only** Several cars were doubled parked towards the end of the block picking up flowers so I parked a few doors down and stepped inside. They had a beautiful tray of assorted pastries which I failed to take a photo of and I just HAD to have it. It had cannoli, cheese cake, cream puffs the works! I was looking for a birthday cake for my Puerto Rican granny and chose an Oreo cake over a strawberry shortcake and surprisingly I did not get clobbered over the head by my mother lol. She looked unpleased when I removed it from the box but when she ate it. I was like bang boom TOUCHDOWN! She said it was soft and moist and fluffy and light. The chocolate had the perfect amount of sweetness I must agree. Plus I already won when I brought home some Easter bread for the family to share. The only comment I got there was why didn't I buy a bigger loaf. I bought a cute little slipper shaped one with one egg and they had many options which was great. I see folks were coming in and out for cappuccinos and if I wasn't already wire from an early morning drive I would have Indulged. The cake was $25, the tray $20 and the Easter bread was about $10 if I can recall. I had 3 baby shower cakes from here 17 years ago and that's how good they were then. Super happy to see them still thriving and pumping out the good stuff. Only thing I will say is what's with the writing? I was hoping for classic script and the weekend crew gave me a very scribble "Gramma" in red. My family was like why did they spell it like that. Me- I was shocked like who buys a cake and doesn't look at it after they put in the writing was I in Lala land or what. Next time I'll check.”

So I’ve never really been a fan of baklava because it’s always usually to sweet. You can only eat a bite at a time. But this man’s baklava was so balanced I can’t explain it. It was more flavor than sweet. You got a hint a sweet in the beginning, then you got the pistachio and flaky pastry, at the end it was sweet again! So balanced so delicious. “I did a last minute personalized cake order for my friend’s Emo themed birthday party and Christina was so accommodating and patient with helping me figure out how to design the cake! I got red velvet flavor with cream cheese filling and let me tell you not only was the cake absolutely adorable it was DELICIOUS. Ignore the tiny hole around the cake because the picture was taken after we sang happy birthday. I made the order 2 days prior to picking it up so they seem very punctual. I also got a yummy piece of apple crumble cake and raspberry cheese strudel because everything in shop looked too good not to pick something out for a snack later! Can’t wait to come back :)”

“Hidden gem. It’s a small place with some big flavors. They make Smoked Herring patties that are soooooo delicious that getting them home can be a challenge because the smell of them emanating is so enticing you will want to open the box and grab one, once they get home that dozen disappears quickly. I also tried their Pikliz sauce they make and it was equally delicious. They also have other offerings but I haven’t gotten to them yet, but if they are anything like the Smoked Herring patties you’ll be in for a treat. Be advised they do cash only.”

“This is the go to place for egg tarts. It's been here forever, but 27 years. They had different variations of egg tarts, coconut, a few other flavors over the years. I've always gone to them for egg tarts over the years. It's sad to see them go, the owner is retiring so now everyone's going to get egg tarts 1 last time. The crust is flaky and perfect. The inside filling isn't overly sweet. They were open early in the morning and into the early evening, just after you got back from work. It's been a neighborhood staple and it will be missed. It was a small space but they made it work. You go in order and head out. No time to waste, gotta get these egg tarts home!Alexa play Time to say Goodbye, even though we don't want to.”

“Went to la nueva bakery today with my wife who is from Uruguay, we live far from bakery , but were craving fresh sandwiches so we went. However I asked them to make a cake for me twice and every time they do it completely wrong. I would show them a pic and they would make a WISH version of the cake? asked for the first two pics on the left and they gave me a very simple cake on the right with the wrong dog design and plain, even the HAPPY Birthday wording was done so ugly and sloppy, spoke to the worker and got half my money back which I would say is good, but this is not the first time I send a pic and get a different color cake ?”

“This is going to by my weekly bubble tea spot. They were so friendly which is always a driving factor for a quality establishment for me. Price point was great. We only got teas today, but I can't wait to try some of their pastries. They looked beautiful and based on other people's reviews they're probably delicious. We got the brown sugar bubble milk tea and Passion fruit green tea with lychee popping boba and just look at that adorable little heart shaped tea stopper. I will be a frequent flyer here”

Canaan Bread has crossed my mind when I get the cravings...but like all loyal customers of Canaan Bread, when you know, you know. My better half took me here for a bite right before our road trip. The seating is limited so don't expect to sit to eat...but if there's a seat, grab it and enjoy Korean blessed diner style offerings. I had their avocado toast sammich and it was Babe Ruth. Yes, that means it's a homerun for me. As full as I was, I shoveled the rest of sammich (and my wife's chicken katsu) in my mouth. The best part was the prices are all very reasonable with the amount of food and quality of food offered. 15 minutes later, we walked out very happy and our clothes reeked of food which would normally bother me. But I was so satisfied with our brunch, I wore my food cologne proudly to our next destination (a small bookstore).”

My go to item for making sure I have something delicious to bring is Bonelle's Rugulach , usually a mix of chocolate and raspberry. At $20 for a pound the cookies are not cheap, but they always are well appreciated. The owner is a hoot, a very nice woman who apparently is a neighborhood fixture.”
