When my local market is out of Tom Cat bread I simply go without. If I go past 7pm they will always be sold out of the pullmans, baguettes, and boules so I've had to alter my schedule. Yes, it's totally worth it.
This is a Huge commercial bakery, Not open to the public. They supply numerous businesses with a large variety of breads and rolls etc. The production areas are nearly spotless and sanitary conditions are a top priority there. They take up a whole city block, and if safety and sanitary conditions didn't prohibit it - could probably do a nice side business of Bakery tours.

the 5-star rating is for the huge sourdough bolle that is sold quartered at Balducci's in Scarsdale and Greenwich. Sadly, they started thin-slicing the loaves which ruins it for me. Then they started carrying another brand of sourdough that I threw out. I can't speak for any other products Tomcat makes because I wouldn't know where to buy them in Westchester County.
