Deep Blue on the Fly Asian Fusion • $$
John F. Kennedy International Airport, Terminal 5, Queens

“The food here is tasty, but expensive. Everything I've had here has been good. Its also quiet and spacious for an airport restaurant. For that reason, the service also tends to be better than the nearby restaurants in Terminal 5.\n\nHowever, one of the best things about this restaurant is that it opens before 6am and serves an standard (albeit expensive) breakfast menu. Because its a sushi restaurant, this place is deserted in the morning, making it the perfect spot for an early breakfast in Terminal 5.“

“I was reluctant seeing the reviews here but ordered Singapore Noodles. They were busy so it took a minute because everything was freshly made. I’ve had Singapore Noodles around the world and for that, coming out of a small place in an airport for $14.50, the portion was big and the food was good and spicey!“

“This little gem is so New York, and I had the best time here last Saturday night. It’s a tiny space run by a lovely husband-and-wife team that makes the whole experience feel warm and personal. The set menu was outstanding, with so many great flavor combinations, many of them inspired by traditional Nepali dishes. They also offer a thoughtfully chosen wine pairing that complemented the food really well. Service was excellent throughout, and I especially enjoyed hearing the stories behind each dish and the inspiration that went into creating them. Overall, just an outstanding dinner and a place I can’t wait to return to.“

“157 Tavern has been a staple in the area for 10 years and is an excellent choice for parties or group gatherings. You can simply provide them with your budget, and they will curate the menu for you, which makes the planning process very convenient.

Regarding the food:

Grilled Spanish Octopus: Highly recommended. The potato pave is delicious, and the octopus is tender with a perfect charred exterior.

Short Rib with Bone Marrow: The meat is very tender and falls apart at the touch of a fork, though I wish the portion of bone marrow was a bit larger.

King Salmon: Quite tender.

Burrata Cheese: Standard/average.

Caramel Flan: Delicious and beautifully presented.

Overall, it is a great spot for a nice dinner.“

“This place is beautiful awesome playlist. I went on a Sunday and there was plenty of parking but I am sure it would be more difficult on a weekday until after 6pm when street parking becomes available. The burger and fries very solid, the el mensajero drink was excellent, I had some toast with ricotta, honey and almonds that was really good as well. It wasnt very crowded but the space is awesome I would like to go back on one of their event days. Overall good experience will come back for sure.“
