“Had lunch here after the Morocco game on the Fourth of July. The food was fresh and very authentic, according to my Montenegrin friend I was with. It was my first time having Balkan food and the owner was so happy to have me. We had a nice conversation about her family in Montenegro. I could have spent all day in there trying different food and speaking to the owner. I will certainly stop by for lunch anytime I come back to Astoria!“

Big parties book this restaurant for not only the space but the delicious food. Tried three spreads, their spinach side, and their salmon with rice. “This place is freaking amazing. I had just went to a fancy viral-ish sit down dinner spot a couple nights before, and ordered some falafel, dips, chicken platter situation. Very very tasty. Fast forward to present, hungry, need something in the area. Falafel bites comes along, or rather I come to it, carried by fate. Turns out date wanted to teach me a lesson about value, since this spot completely destroyed the fancy spot at a fraction of the price and fanfare. Falafel, baba, hummus, chicken platter, rice pudding, all among the best I've ever had. And I've had a lot. The owner was so attentive and so nice, she came over to chat as we were finishing up and was quite proud of the food there. So had great reason to be. If you're hungry and you've got 10 bucks on you, I don't think you can really get better than this. Hell if you had 100 bucks on you and the ability to warp anywhere in the city, you might be better off declining and just walking into falafel bites. Place is nuts good.“

“Honestly, the food here is great. My go to is Honey Chipotle Chicken. Every bite is enjoyable, the portion sizes are large (and cost effective) and the staff are all great to their customers. The small talk doesn't feel forced either.

There's no eating in anymore but honestly it's good that way and I'm all for the business interests so they can keep things running smoothly and I can keep coming back for years to come.“

“Love this place!! The employees are always so friendly and helpful! The food is EXCELLENT as always, and I'm obsessed with the Buffin muffins ($~6) and overnight oats ($~9), although the latter are a bit too pricey. My favs are the Welcome to the Sno buffin (which tastes like those viral pink squishy chocolate snowball pastries and are good even when frozen, also has a cream filling) and the Fitella overnight oats (very filling). Cash register has some excellent protein bar recommendations next to it, I always grab one. The meals are always good no matter what I get, and they are priced around $11-12. My favorite is the Soho Steakbowl, which comes with marinated steak strips and sweet potato fries, and is $12. I miss the Egg White Muffins, they need to bring them back!!! Same with the Tres Leches buffin!! Whenever I come here I grab 10 meals for a discount, and they last me a work week.“

“Love a corner restaurant! Staff is always so cool and welcoming. The cocktails are well designed, the space is dark and comfy for groups but I think it’s especially sexy for a date night. I know that offer a few fun happy hour “girl dinner options”. However my obsession lies with the chicken dinner, which normally would not be my go to at a spot, but this dish has a hold on me. It’s such a good size that you could share it but it’s also so delicious you don’t want to. The chicken is pounded thin but still juicy and subtly sweet, comes with an amazing pairing of crazy creamy polenta and this somehow addictive kale, but the true star is the smoky sauce that I want to bathe in. So divine! If they ever got rid of it I would cry.“

It has a very nice ambiance. The Owners are warm and welcoming as well as each of the staff. Service with a smile..how refreshing! In my defense, doesn't this mean my review of Le Petit Pecheur (which always makes me think of George Bizet's underrated opera, for all you Romantic Era nerds) wil be...purer? No annoying comparisons and such?

I digress. We came, we seafood-ed, we smiled.

- Fried Sardines: My favorite dish of the night. Perfectly breaded, lightly crispy, totally filling, yet not briney or heavy. I think I'm in love....

- Baba Ganoush + Hummus + Pita: I forget why we ordered these, but they were tasty and creamy and made a nice distraction while we waited for our entrees.

- Grilled Octopus: Perfectly chewy and zesty, exactly the kind of poulpe you might enjoy on the beachy coast of the southern Mediterranean.

- Scallops: Also well cooked, and tastier than they had any right to be considering the simple seasoning.

- Shrimp Linguine in butter garlic sauce: I mean, you really can't go wrong with a dish like this. My only regret was having to share it with five other friends.

- Branzino: Butterflied, tender and full of flavor. There are many branzino dishes out there. This one won't break the bank, and will leave both your stomach and your wallet happy.

If you need more, definitely pad your meal with Mashed Potatoes and Fries because carbs are happy things, and happy things deserve to be eaten.

Space is ample, as are the portions, and service is quick and friendly. They play a lovely mix of North African French and Arabic music, which just adds to the beachy resort town atmosphere, IMO. Perhaps one day I'll finally make it to Abuqir, and the cycle will be complete.“
