Malay Restaurant is a Malaysian spot in Flushing. The food is very good, with many reviewers highlighting the chicken leg roti, which is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with tender, flavorful chicken. The Hainanese chicken is also a standout, described as tender and juicy, and the curry chicken noodle soup is a favorite. Other popular dishes include roti canai, chicken sate sticks, beef rendang, chow kueh teow, and asam laksa.
The prices are super affordable and very reasonably priced compared to Manhattan. However, the beef rendang is considered over-priced at $32 for barely 1lb of meat. The restaurant is cash only and charges tax for cash payment, which some find frustrating. Service can be slow, as it took time to take orders and get the check, but the aunties that serve are very nice. Overall, the food is very good and has never disappointed over 20 years, but it is not the place for great service.
