A beef empanada from this cart on Austin Street was the first thing I ever ate when I moved to NYC. Y'all, it was GREAT. The local who insisted I had to grab one as we walked by absolutely knew what he was talking about. Abuela's Empanadas was my introduction to the fat-kid status that would come to describe the entire time I lived in New York City as a Midwestern transplant, lol. I still remember my eyes popping out of my head as I realized how good this was and that if this was what I was getting from a random food cart, I'd want to try every restaurant in the city.

Service with a smile! A quality street food cart stop you'll enjoy visiting. The empanada and passion fruit juice is a perfect brunch combo, not greasy and she's generous with the filling too! Thank you very much for the morning sunshine!

8/22/24- I had a beef empanada. Cost was $3.50, size was equal to a woman’s hand (not the cocktail size), pastry outside was amazing! The empanada was warm not too greasy, definitely fresh and the cart was so clean! It also was nice to be greeted with a smile! Please let me know if you have a restaurant. I would love to have a sit down meal created by you!

I can’t believe the lady stole $8 from my mother! My mom asked for two spinach and cheese empanadas and the lady told her that they were only two left. Because my mother always sees her truck, she paid her and told her she would pick them up after she gets out of the clinic (didn’t want to take food into the clinic). Low and behold, the truck was no longer there (yesterday). Today my mother went back and the truck was there but with a different lady.It is crazy to me that someone would steal $8 from an eldery person. If I could give 0 stars I would!

(Translated by Google) $5 for an empanada seems a little expensive to me, they are good but not worth that much(Original)$5 por una empanada me parece algo costoso son buenas pero no para valer tanto

70th Road. Way over-salted and dry. Could not eat. So disappointing!

This lady has been on Austin Street for years, wit her food truck. I would say she has the best empanadas that I have tasted outside of my wife's.Abuela's empanadas are definitely the best in queens, from what I have tasted from other empanadas restaurant or trucks. The chicken empanadas and the beef are good to me. I have to admit they are a little pricey, but they are worth it. The lady gives you nice portions of meat as well. She makes them right in front of you hot.

I paid $4 for a fried piece of dough. The stuffing could be ignored.

Delicious and sweet.

Don't know the origin of the people that make them but I'm Puerto Rican and my personal opinion they are amazing. Wish them nothing but luck.

The empanadas are okay, crispy but unnecessarily salty. The lady is not friendly at all.

I bought from their truck by Ikea in Rego Park. If I could give zero stars, I would. I ordered the chicken, chicken with cheese and beef empanadas. It’s a total waste of money!!! Don’t ever buy from here! I will never recommend it anyone. Disgusting! The chicken were just shredded meat with food coloring and no seasoning. The beef empanada filling was sour and the ‘meat’ didn’t seem like meat for human consumption. It was tough, crumbly and had a chemical aftertaste. FYI owner of the food cart- if you’re ‘sanitizing’ your meat with cleaning agents, Don’t! You can’t wash rot away! Your food operator license should be revoked!!
