The best bagels in Astoria Queens. I recommend the Turkey bagel sandwich. Obligatory step.

Rude lady and staff to my mother. So many bagel shops in the area. Odd, wanted to make it a regular

Incredibly rude service to the point I will no longer go here. Like other reviews have mentioned, older woman who works the counter on weekends just plain nasty for no reason. Even when I’m with my three year old son just trying to have a nice morning. Don’t understand why people still go here. We’re in New York- plenty of other options to get a good bagel without the nastiness.

These are by far my family's favorite bagel spot! Bagels are large, doughy, and delicious ?

This is in regard to the owner’s attitude- I’ve gone here many times and, as other reviews note, this woman doesn’t have any respect for her customers and in particular, her workers. I passed by recently and she was screaming horribly at a worker using profanities through the phone. I’ve also seen her use attitude towards her Latino workers at the shop previously and it’s always tainted my experience. I know the workers put up with it because they have no other work options, and she knows this. I can’t support a business that treats their workers this way. I hope people keep this in mind when they go to this business.

Best bagels in NYC.
First tried 30 years ago when I moved there, they were a daily staple for me for many years. I moved away long ago, recently went back to visit and was pleased to find they are exactly the same. I went into the (gasp!) non air-conditioned space, placed an order with the (gasp!) gruff lady at the counter (who [gasp!] may or may not have been grabbing a bite between orders) for a non toasted everything with cream cheese, grabbed an OJ from the fridge, paid my (gasp!) cash, walked on over to Astoria Park, and surrendered to the bliss as my taste buds triggered memories of the days when all of NYC was my playground.
Now, if the gasps resonate with you, I'd say White Plains might be a good place to try when your lease is up - same rents, you may even get a bit more space, and the breakfast establishments are certain to be sanitized/modernized more toward your liking, albeit blander. You won't be writing home about the taste, but hey, there'll be AC, and no one will give you attitude because their job will be at risk if they do. In fact, they probably won't engage with you much at all. But be assured there will be nothing there that will make you gasp. ?
Otherwise, enjoy these amazing old-school Astoria bagels and this gem of a neighborhood. You're lucky to be there.

Don't eat here. The couple in front of me was ordering and the girl behind the counter was eating while taking their order, then continues between taking bites of her breakfast and touching their bagels. Then proceeds to cut their bagels and toasts them, licks her fingers, continues to eat her food, licks her fingers again, then takes their cash and puts it into the register. Not even a hand wash in between literally having her fingers in her mouth and touching this couples food. Luckily I noticed all of this before I was able to order my bagel, I left immediately. So disgusting I've honestly never seen anything like it in my life. God knows what goes on there while people aren't looking. The only people who should be going here is the health department.

I don't understand why people say these bagels are good. they are the best on the block at best.
Bagels ? are the best, fresh and soft. Service was attitudish but my wife dealt with it .....only because friends we was going to visit requested these bagels, had it not been for that we would of just left them with the attitude and went elsewhere.

Terribly expensive. Two bagels, one with six spread the other with scallion cream cheese and two 20 oz bottles of seltzer was $23.
Plus, it takes way too long and the air conditioner was not on.

Pains me to say because they used to be the best bagels.. so good It was "worth" taking that MISERABLE woman's abuse. The bagels are still good when not overcooked. The young man who works there makes and serves them the best but when he's not there it's just not worth it. If you want to have a food day do not go in there

I entered and my boyfriend asked me to pick a drink. I couldn't see what drinks there was so I tried to wipe the fog off so me and future customers can see and I got snapped at because she assumed I was writing on it. When my boyfriend said I wasn't she didn't even offer an apology
