The bagels and food here are delicious, and I appreciate that two of the employees are polite and attentive to orders. However, I had an unpleasant experience with the employer and another employee who were rude and monotonous. Today, when I ordered a cold coffee and a bagel, I had to repeat my cold coffee order twice, but the employee still didn’t seem to understand and responded with sarcasm, which was disappointing.
An authentic bagel place with incredible food!
And they're rude too! It completes the authentication!
Best bagels in Astoria hands down. They are super fluffy and but a good amount of cream cheese. Only downside is that it’s 6.50 per bagel I got two bagels with spreads for $14 and some change which I think Is kinda pricey
Best bagel place in the neighborhood 🔥🔥🔥 people at the counter are very friendly and quick! Love coming here on my way to the park.
Place went downhill last few years. Burnt bagel, way too expensive. Used to be the best bagel in Astoria but hate to admit that both Brooklyn bagels are better
Best Bagels in Astoria, they don't take apple pay. However, it's cash only! I love Astoria Bagels. Sesame Bagels rule the world! Can't go wrong with a New York Bagel in the big apple thanks to Astoria Bagel Shop.
For me, best bagels in the area. Bit crisp, nice bite and chew, and fluffy inside. That said, they're bizarrely overpriced if you want anything on them ($6 for a bagel with cream cheese is wild), so just buy your bagels and do the rest at home.
As long as it's just the guys working, service is totally pleasant. Cash only and no frills in the right way.
Best bagel in town

The best bagels in Astoria Queens. I recommend the Turkey bagel sandwich. Obligatory step.

Incredibly rude service to the point I will no longer go here. Like other reviews have mentioned, older woman who works the counter on weekends just plain nasty for no reason. Even when I’m with my three year old son just trying to have a nice morning. Don’t understand why people still go here. We’re in New York- plenty of other options to get a good bagel without the nastiness.

These are by far my family's favorite bagel spot! Bagels are large, doughy, and delicious ?

This is in regard to the owner’s attitude- I’ve gone here many times and, as other reviews note, this woman doesn’t have any respect for her customers and in particular, her workers. I passed by recently and she was screaming horribly at a worker using profanities through the phone. I’ve also seen her use attitude towards her Latino workers at the shop previously and it’s always tainted my experience. I know the workers put up with it because they have no other work options, and she knows this. I can’t support a business that treats their workers this way. I hope people keep this in mind when they go to this business.

Best bagels in NYC.
First tried 30 years ago when I moved there, they were a daily staple for me for many years. I moved away long ago, recently went back to visit and was pleased to find they are exactly the same. I went into the (gasp!) non air-conditioned space, placed an order with the (gasp!) gruff lady at the counter (who [gasp!] may or may not have been grabbing a bite between orders) for a non toasted everything with cream cheese, grabbed an OJ from the fridge, paid my (gasp!) cash, walked on over to Astoria Park, and surrendered to the bliss as my taste buds triggered memories of the days when all of NYC was my playground.
Now, if the gasps resonate with you, I'd say White Plains might be a good place to try when your lease is up - same rents, you may even get a bit more space, and the breakfast establishments are certain to be sanitized/modernized more toward your liking, albeit blander. You won't be writing home about the taste, but hey, there'll be AC, and no one will give you attitude because their job will be at risk if they do. In fact, they probably won't engage with you much at all. But be assured there will be nothing there that will make you gasp. ?
Otherwise, enjoy these amazing old-school Astoria bagels and this gem of a neighborhood. You're lucky to be there.
