I went here multiple times a week for years when I lived in the neighborhood. Best bagels in Astoria. Old school NYC institution.

The woman/owner who is usually counting cash in the back gives off a terrible attitude and will speak to you in a rude/condescending way when she's working the orders. Will not bother giving this business anymore money. Two bagels with spread and two deli sandwiches cost about 40 dollars.

Don’t want to ruin your morning? Then don’t come here when the boss lady is working. She has a bad attitude. All the employees are nice people. As for me I will not give her my biz. She does not deserve it.

Absolutely ridiculous - the woman that works there was horrible. She was incredibly rude & had an attitude after I asked her to break everything down for my order. One bagel with cheese and bacon and one croissant with two cans of cold brew coffee was $35 and change!!! The only saving grace were the two young men behind the counter who were very nice. Never going back there again and will be telling my friends about it.

Although this bagel store has been open for many many years the owner has still not learned how to treat customers. On more than one occasion not only have I been treated horribly but, I have witnessed this woman treat other customers with absolutely no respect.I refuse to give her anymore business. Brooklyn Bagel or New York City Bagel make better cream cheese and are actually nice to their customers!Unfortunately my daughter recently made the mistake of going to Astoria Bagel. She was charged the wrong amount for her order and asked to see the receipt. This woman refused to give her a receipt and instead verbally told her what she was charged. Now not providing a receipt to a paying customer is against the law.Unfortunately many people are not aware of this. But then the owner proceeded to get nasty with my daughter because she was annoyed that my daughter had the nerve to question what she was being charged. If I did not know first hand how nasty the owner of this store can be I would have thought my daughter was mistaken. I mean how could a business owner deny you a receipt??? Well that’s how they operate at Astoria Bagel. I cannot even say that the employees are nasty because if you have any issue with your order the owner immediately gets involved and the customer is NEVER RIGHT!!!I am all about supporting small businesses but I would give your support to any of the other bagel stores in that area! This woman does not believe in customer service.

The bagels are really good. However, I feel like they use an inexpensive combination of seasoning for the EVERYTHING bagels. I don't know if that's possible but the everything bagels seem to be very poppy/sesame heavy and less salt/onion/garlic seasoning. The egg everything bagel is still really good. However, they don't make a lot of the egg everything and they sell out quickly. There seems to always be dozens of sesame bagels sitting there, they might want to reevaluate how many egg everything bagels they're selling vs the lack of demand for sesame bagels. The owner is pretty unpleasant, never says "hello" or "have a good day". I once spoke with her about the bagels, asked her if she had a favorite and she responded "no! I hate them. I never liked them. Just because you do them really well, doesn't mean you have to like them". Also I don't think she understands that there is a difference between toasted and warm bagels. If the bagels are warm and you ask for toasted, she stomps her feet and fire comes out of her mouth. The guys that work here are very nice. The bagels are good. No egg sandwiches here. No frills. No credit cards. No restroom.
