Food was beyond bland. The French fries with hot dogs were good and that was about it. The steak had no flavor, the rice was over cooked, and the rest of the meals were equally bland as well. Half the order came out and the rest came out later. The music was far too loud. The manzana soda was also good. The staff was not attentive as other restaurants around the area.

Been coming to barzola for many years. And within the last few months their food has been very inconsistent. A month ago we bought a bolon mixto that was extremely salty. Yesterday's bolon was good. I usually order a caldo de bola and encebollado. And yesterday's caldo de bola was very bland. And the caldo de pata, just extremely bland and lacking flavor. It was the first time ordering that and i think it will be the last time.

Love love love! Been going to this place since forever. Best Ecuadorian/Columbian food in the area! Very traditional flavors too! The lentils and rice combo with chicken cutlet is the best. The portions are fantastic and as for appetizers I love the bolon menu they have! Make sure to order the bolon with the special salsa criolla and green sauce if they have it. Pink sauce too! Highly recommend. Great for big family or work groups and small dates with friends or significant others! They sometimes have live music which is also amazing.

First time in an Ecuadorian restaurant. Very good food ( not as good as my mother’s food , but very good) and a Canelazo ! Adolfo was our server and he explained the dishes and recommended some especially guanambana fruit juice ! All the workers were very nice and friendly. Will definitely come back .

Delicious Ecuadorian spot in Astoria! We’d been searching for authentic Ecuadorian food in Queens and finally found Barzola through a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The Bolón was outstanding, and the Llapingacho was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Definitely a place I’ll return to whenever I’m in the area, and one I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting or living nearby!

The food at this restaurant was the worst!!The chaulafan had no flavor so much that I wasn’t able to eat this dish. After a few spoonfuls, I decided I couldn’t eat this and end up throwing out the majority of the food-wasting $20 worth of food. To make matters worse, I went home and threw up the little I ate. This food made me sick all day. I will never eat at this restaurant again nor recommend to anyone. Not sure why this place has such high reviews. FYI I wasn’t alone and the person I was with also got sick and couldn’t stop going to the bathroom. Beware. They ate the sopa de gallina.
Wonderful service and welcoming environment. The food was fresh and delicious. Ended the day with an excellent tres leches dessert.

Servers started clearing our table at 12 am and rushed us out 30 minutes before closing. They tossed out a clearly labelled bag from a veterinary hospital, containing medication that was sat on the table, on top of a take out container during our time there. We came back at 12:55 am to retrieve the items, when they would still be open but they were packed up and closed.
I called the next day and they said they did not have it. They claimed that they don't check belongings and items of that description would have been tossed out. There was over $70 worth of medication in there. At any other establishment, lost property would typically be kept so that customers would be able to retrieve them but that clearly was not the case here. They also claimed that they close at 12 am and that any property left after hours would not be their responsibility, when the hours here clearly state 1 am on Friday nights.
They also did not have any toilet paper in the stalls.
Look elsewhere for drinks/food because they clearly don't care about their customers.

We had a birthday gathering at Barzola last night, and I was truly impressed by the outstanding service we received. Our server, Jose Roman, was exceptionally attentive and efficient—he made sure our every need was met, which is no small task considering we’re quite a particular group!
Anita and Paola were also incredibly kind and attentive, contributing to an overall warm and welcoming experience.
To me, a restaurant can have a beautiful atmosphere and delicious food, but if the service doesn’t meet the mark, it takes away from the overall experience. I’m happy to say that Barzola exceeded our expectations on all aspects.
A heartfelt thank you to Jose, Anita, and Paola for your excellent service and warm demeanor. We’ll definitely be back—and we’ll be recommending Barzola to everyone we know!
