Chao Thai is a true hidden gem. It's the kind of low-key spot that makes you love New York. The food is clean, authentic, and the best. The spicy papaya salad (som tum) is the best I've ever tasted, and the jungle and green curries are addictively good. The pineapple duck is divine (according to my partner, he loves it). It's a genuine Thai restaurant that makes you feel like a guest in someone's home. It's just the best food, highly recommend!

The best Thai in all of New York City, hands down. I've been coming here since they've opened and am never let down. Service is always great. The nicest people work here and in the kitchen.

Try the spicy basil duck, tiny crispy prawns, crispy pork with Chinese broccoli, and the tom ka gai(lime-coconut milk soup with chicken and mushrooms) for some of my recommendations. Don't forget to order medium spicy level or you'll be hit with the real intense spice of Thailand.

Only issue is that they only accept cash. Otherwise, it's one of the BEST hole in the wall neighborhood spots with amazing flavors. The menu is so vast that it will keep you coming back for more.

One of the best food experiences you can have in Queens, which is saying a lot. If you're alone or with friends, this place will always deliver absolute bangers and take you to flavor town. Truly a hidden gem.

Nothing taste the same anymore after change of owner and chef.
My favorite masaaman curry chicken was soupy, literally 6 strands of shredded chicken and 70% onion + potatoes.
Tom yum soup was white color and bland.
The duck in the duck salad was not so fresh.
Waitress never even return with our change assuming it was all tips.
sadly, I don't think I'll go back again.

This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant since 2015 - food was always on point and no other Thai place could even compare.

I ordered my usual green curry through Uber Eats and was shocked at how terrible the quality was. The vegetables were undercooked and the curry was so watery - it was literally flavored water. When I called the restaurant to complain, they said the chef had changed today. Knowing this I will never order from this restaurant again. What a shame. Our other dishes were also extremely subpar and bland compared to previous times.

Had early dinner with my vegetarian friend. We ordered the papaya salad (excellent!!!), she got pad see ew noodles with tofu (delicious!!!), I got green curry with chicken mild (very spicy, awesome flavors!!!) and iced coffee with condensed milk. It’s a very no-frills, simple, hole in the wall restaurant serving up amazing Thai flavors. Will return to try more dishes. 10 out of 10!!!
Gave 4 stars for atmosphere because every time someone opened the door we got a big windchill.

Vegetarian options: Delicious papaya salad, pad see ew with tofu were excellent.

This is our nth time here. Tom yup soup is good and pad thai and the papaya salad. I wish they have the tomato tom yun soup. The place is small but we always eat here during dinner pst 8pm so it is not full. Overall it is gooood. I keep on updating the photos for new food I tried.

My favorite hole in the wall spot. I hope this place dont get viral because I dont want to ensure crazy lines but still stay busy so they can be wealthy and remain open for business.

If you like thai food, this place is worth it.
