Service was friendly and helpful especially in assisting with the on line menu. Once ordered our food was delivered reasonably promptly. Cost was okay.
First you need to order by scanning a QR code, but wait first you must login to JetBlue Terminal WiFi. Which kicks you off when you are using a VPN which is a must have for public WiFi. So use a server’s iPad. Why it has to be this complicated is beyond me. How about a laminated menu and just tell someone. Small roll, one sushi order (2 pieces) and an $8 bottle of water for a total of $55. Now that could be forgiven if it was exceptional quality. It’s not, it’s gas station sushi. Sat there for 15 minutes and they got several pickup orders wrong. Apart from one helpful individual the staff was disinterested and borderline unfriendly.
I placed a takeout order for two dishes, priced at $18.28 and $16.99 respectively. However, upon receiving the bill, I was shocked to find a significant discrepancy. The item subtotal before tax and service was listed as $43.26, a whopping 23% higher than the sum of the two dishes I ordered. When questioned about this error, a waiter, Tom claiming there was a hidden service fee that all new yorker should know and started shaming us. This assertion was blatantly false, as the inflated amount was clearly before any additional fees were applied, as confirmed by another waitress. To make matters worse, Tom's behavior towards us was reprehensible. He repeatedly made discriminatory remarks, insinuating that we "must not be from New York" in a derogatory manner. This unwarranted discrimination was completely uncalled for and tainted the entire dining experience. Despite our attempts to address the billing issue, Tom continued to belittle and shame us, suggesting we should have gone to the food court instead if we were concerned about the accuracy of the bill although deep blue has nothing supreme than a food court. Ultimately, it was another waitress who identified the system error, acknowledging our overcharge. However, the restaurant made no effort to rectify the situation or refund the excess amount. We were left to navigate their ordering system ourselves to correct the error, which only added to our frustration and disappointment. In conclusion, my visit to Deep Blue Sushi was marred by incompetence, discrimination, and poor customer service. I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment, as no amount of food can make up for such blatant disrespect and mistreatment.
The food here is tasty, but expensive. Everything I've had here has been good. Its also quiet and spacious for an airport restaurant. For that reason, the service also tends to be better than the nearby restaurants in Terminal 5. However, one of the best things about this restaurant is that it opens before 6am and serves an standard (albeit expensive) breakfast menu. Because its a sushi restaurant, this place is deserted in the morning, making it the perfect spot for an early breakfast in Terminal 5.
My wife and I stopped at Deep Blue at JFK during a layover. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, she had the pork gyoza and I had chicken pad Thai. The servings were reasonably sized and about par for cost at an airport. I found the pad Thai pleasantly spicy, not burning but with enough kick to make you realize that this was good Thai food. We enjoyed our meal - something you can't always say about an airport meal. Service was good as it was not crowded and the music was not so loud that you couldn't carry a conversation. We'll consider deep blue next time we're at JFK.
Terrible food. Shrimp fried rice was watery and tasteless. Spicy tuna roll had such thick, hard seaweed that I couldn’t chew through it. The waiter said this is their typical seaweed so I would discourage anyone from eating here.
I ordered the chicken lettuce wraps. They were dry and bland. When I asked the server for sauce, he was short with me. Of course it's overpriced; it's in an airport.
The food in this place is ridiculously overpriced. I ordered the chicken fried rice with pineapple and it was tasteless. I had to ask for hot sauce to add some flavour. To wash it down was a 22 dollar glass of wine. Avoid if you don't want to feel robbed.
This was our worst restaurant experience ever. Staff are rude beyond belief- service awful - only had a couple of plates of food because that’s all was delivered in around 80 minutes. Pinot Grigio $75 a bottle. This place is a shambles….
Food average. Costly. Slow attention. Place not as clean as it should. Waiter tooks really long to serve you. Food 🍱 not particularly special for the cost. We had miso soup, edamames, dragon roll and shrimp 🦐. Enjoy the edamames.

Sushi in an airport? Yes please! This is good sushi…and not just for an airport (we’ve been to Japan - we know good sushi). Let’s start with the sashimi…yellowtail…big, fresh and exceptional texture! Next, we had the monster roll and the crunchy red ball. Delicious and again fresh tuna with just the right amount of accoutrements. And the wasabi…wowi…bright green and hot! Cocktails were balanced. Excellent device. Overall, great experience, really good sushi, at JFK Airport Terminal 5.
If you our traveling out of Jet Blue in Kennedy Airport, Jet Blue's ""Deep Blue" is a good choice for a decent meal.
I used to eat her all the time and it was great. On this trip the first thing I noticed was that the floor was really dirty, clearly no one is paying attention. I ordered edamame and a california roll and both were bad. I wonder what happened to this place! I would not eat here again.
While we were expecting rare tuna on the rice bowl...the seared was cooked perfectly. We asked for extra veggies so my photo may not be typical.
We didn’t order to many dishes, but were disappointed in all of them: - oversalted insipid miso soup - oversalted fried rice with little crab in it and tons of ginger - overfried tough piece of salmon I’d recommend to look for other options in Terminal 5.
