They over charge to the max. I originally went in for some sweet bread and I ordered four cookies which weren't the same size at all, smaller than average for cookies more like mini cookies that were priced at 4 x 2.35. A small bodega tasting coffee for 2.25. A can of coke with a cup of ice I didn't ask for to go for 3.50 and not sure howuch exactly they charged me for the half empty plain chicken plate. The chicken churrasco was in the beginning to stay with a can of coke. I ask for the can of coke to be accompanied by ice as a normal customer dining in a restaurant wouldn't even have to ask for. I heard the lady giving the total and she literally charged me for a cup of ice! Never in my life have I dined somewhere and they charge me for ice! When I heard that I took it to go and this is what I got. Pretty much 30 bucks after tipping upfront as well. NEVER AGAIN. Taste wise it was ok but not worth the money. They can do better. The lady with the salt and pepper short bob will sell you a dream thats not real. She talks a good game but the food and presentation isn't how she puts it 🙄💯

Good coffee i live in this neighborhood 7 years and this bakery should have the line out the door but if your not their kind they see you but serve there people first they made me feel like they racist I witnessed an empanada that was from day before they got upset at her for not wanting to wait for a fresh one like it was her fault she was black im sure if she was Colombian would had been no problem I kept going until today enough abuse on a customer who tried to go pray n mediate. By the window customer skipped me and I spoke and was accused of always making a scene but I wasnt wrong n she saw me standing there before him with my phone n book on the table and still defended the man who skipped me and claimed everytime I come I make a scene and threatened to call the police because I spoke loudly for defending myself and last time spoke for me asking for last oatmeal and gave it to customer before me but i try to go there 6 days a week ..but NO MORE ABUSE I left immediately ...I recommend deja brew across the street even the owner here is like Oscar the grouch lol im so done will never recommend it unless your there kind should be open n same service to everyone i like service with a smile drama free they dont honor customers here at all
..goodbye

The food is great, but the customer service is consistently rude. Cashiers act annoyed when you ask for help, and if you don’t speak perfect Spanish, you’re met with attitude or judgment.

One ongoing issue: I’ll order 6 empanadas and they’ll give me two tiny sauces—ask for more, and it turns into an argument. It’s not that deep. Just hand over the damn sauce.

I used to spend $15–$40 here regularly, but I’m done supporting a business that treats loyal customers like a burden.

El Cafetal Bakery & Restaurant is a sparkling gem in Queens, where the Colombian spirit comes alive in every bite of freshly baked bread and every sip of aromatic coffee! This family-run Colombian business carries the warmth, passion, and traditions of Colombia, transforming every visit into an unforgettable journey through the flavors of Latin America. From the moment you step into this cozy establishment, you’re enveloped in a homely atmosphere filled with tantalizing aromas and the genuine smiles of a family that has poured their heart into their craft.
The baked goods here are simply divine! Quesitos, with their crispy crust and delicate cheesy filling, melt in your mouth, while guava pastries are a sweet Colombian delight you can’t resist. Pan sobao, soft and airy, pairs perfectly with morning coffee or a hearty Cuban sandwich, served with a generous portion of meat, cheese, and Colombian love. The tres leches? It’s a dessert that whispers, “This is the taste of home!”
The savory menu is equally impressive: mofongo with a Colombian twist is a true masterpiece, and the rice with beans and fried chicken from the hot bar feels like a warm hug from family, prepared with soul. The coffee – a point of pride for the family – has a rich aroma and flavor that transports you straight to Colombian coffee plantations. And the freshly squeezed orange juice? It’s like sunshine in a glass!
The interior is enchanting: modern, clean, with vibrant Colombian accents and spacious tables that feel comfortable whether you’re dining alone or with loved ones. The staff are true stars, many of them part of this extended family, always ready to recommend something delicious and envelop you in warmth, as if you were a guest in a genuine Colombian home. Opening at 5 AM is a godsend for those eager to start their day with authentic Colombian flavors.
El Cafetal is more than a bakery – it’s a Colombian family tradition where every visit feels like a celebration. Whether it’s a quick breakfast, a family lunch, or a sweet break, you’ll find delectable food and the vibrant energy of Colombian culture. If you haven’t been yet, run, don’t walk! This is a place where your heart sings and your taste buds dance the salsa. 10/10, I’ll be back again and again! 🌟

The service in the morning is terrible, that coastal woman who serves doesn't know about customer service, she's bitter and rude, she votes for you, that's why I never leave her tips, she doesn't deserve them. If you want to be well served, go in the afternoon to that lady, if she knows how to serve you very kindly and respectfully, a business also prospers because of your attention and as I see things are going badly with that lady.

First time visiting and it is an excellent place, very good top quality food and very friendly staff made me feel at home of course I will return ?

Horrible service, and the treatment they give you. I asked the woman serving (with blonde hair) as a favor to give me some warm donuts that had barely come out and she didn't want to, she practically sold me what she wanted. And it's not like they still had many in the display case, I understand that if they had many, that's the product that has to come out first, but there were only two.

This was once a great establishment however they have awful staff. It's always an issue when they charge or give back change.

Today I bought a bread with pineapple, cheese and ham and it only comes with a piece of ham and it costs 5 dollars if they say that the bread has pineapple, ham and cheese that has enough

In a business the most important thing is to guarantee a good product. The person who is making the empanadas is not doing their job well. This morning I bought an empanada and it was not pleasant at all. Full of oil and the dough with which they are made had a disgusting appearance, its entire interior open with the food outside.

Terrible services, I don't recommend, don't go there, it's not clean in the contract, cockroaches, mouse hairs ? they don't have change, you have to bring the exact amount of what you're going to buy and it's terrible
