Did Happy Stony Noodle change owners/chefs? This used to be my go-to take out for Taiwanese food. The taste and quality has notably gotten worse unfortunately.

I love coming here for the beef noodle soup. Taking one star off though because I always order delivery from here when I can’t drive out to Elmhurst and I’ve noticed that they substantially decreased the amount of the fried appetizers (calamari and sweet potato) these past few times I’ve ordered.

A fantastically authentic Taiwanese food experience! This place is where I frequent when I long for my comforts of home away from home. Their stink tofu is pungent and the real deal, perfectly fried with some cabbage garnish. I love their snow cabbage with tofu or fish edamame, perfect to pair with fried rice or knife shaved noodle soup. Don’t miss their jian bing/scallion pancake rolled with egg and basil or beef! You really can’t go wrong, every table around us was really happy with what they ordered! This is a cash only, no frills, mom and pop kinda place, where they serve hot oolong tea with every meal and the food truly speaks for itself.Vegetarian options: Decent vegetarian options, about 10 or so total

discovered this place back during peak covid, and have been a returning customer since. I usually get the plain beef stew noodle soup. the beef is soft and chunky, and nice beefy soup. There's one with tendons if you want, but not my thing. Great appetizers too. I recommend the fried chicken nuggets and the scallion pancakes with beefThey recently did small renovation, its much brighter now!

The beef stew #50 on the menu is what I think is being referred to as beef noodle soup on here because they weren't 100% sure what I mean when I asked for beef noodle soup lolIt's really good, beef is tender, broth flavorful, and noodles delicious..I can't compare it to anything else because it's my first time having Taiwanese.. friendly staff & yes it is a hole in the wall but it can sit around 25-30 people so it's not tiny per say

We walked in at a weird time between lunch and dinner, so we got a seat of our choosing. The restaurant was dimly lit, and the tables had this weird bumpy cracked texture to it, which was a bit off-putting but I was here to eat and not buy furniture so it was trivial in the grand scheme of things.I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup like everyone else, and it delivered. The broth is definitely more on the clearer side, compared to other, darker and richer beef noodle soups I've had (E.g. Noodlecraft's Braised Beef noodle soup) so it's lighter and more drinkable as a result. The beef in the noodle soup was super tender and flavorful. I threw in some of the pickled cabbage they have at every table and it was a good combo. I would definitely order this again, especially now since the weather is getting colder.I also got their salt and pepper chicken and their lu rou fan, which were both pretty standard. I wish the lu rou fan was saucier, but it was pretty decent and I think they give more meat compared to Taiwanese Gourmet (but you pay more so the math works out). What really sealed the deal for me was how nice our waiter was about answering all our questions about the food, even offering to make the cold cucumber appetizer with more garlic, which is how I like it.I would come again, I really like the food and all you can eat pickled veggies.

After reading the reviews, I've been wanting to come here for a while but never got a chance until recently. We got seated immediately. The restaurant is long, with tables covering every inch of the floor. Behind the counter, the wall has shelves that are lined with small potted plants, teacups, and little sauce dishes. Posters adorn the rightmost wall, with one of them depicting Pork Chop on Rice, another one depicting Four Spirits Soup, and a third one showing Spicy Hot Pot. More food posters decorate the wall in the very back as well.We ordered: #121- Bean Curd Stew- it was simple and tame. We were expecting more of a casserole and didn't expect it to look soupy, but it was still good. #128- Snow Cabbage, Bean Curd & soy bean- Daughter loved it because it had one of her favorite kind of tofu. She loved the snow cabbage and edamame as well. #91- Chicken with ginger & basil. I was very disappointed with this. They used white meat and the chicken was soft for a hot second and then got hard. But, it was tasty, though. 118- Spicy Slice fish- We all liked the fish because it was nice and spicy. 201- Pickle cabbage, Pork with rice cake- this was my favorite entree of the evening. The rice cake was nice and tasted freshly made unlike other places that's frozen and thawed and cooked. I LOVED this dish! The place was mostly empty the whole time we were there. They were doing mostly takeouts.I'm so glad that I got a chance to come here. The last time we tried coming here, there wasn't any parking spots available. Service was friendly and quick. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu!

My daughter had just returned from Taiwan, so our friend invited us to dinner here. It is a small establishment with a very big spirit. The food was amazing and the server was on point. The food is made to order. So everything is freshly prepared. Try the scallion pancake with beef, you will not be disappointed. Loved the pickled garlic cucumber and the sweet potato fries. The experience was good. The restaurant does need a face-lift. The owner came out to speak with her customers. I would go back.
