Absolutely fantastic brunch meal. The hype about the pancakes is so well deserved and the service is unmatched.

I did enjoy the food at Hellbender, but the service could have been better.
We were among the first guests seated, yet it still took about 5–8 minutes for our server to notice us and bring water.
The portion size of aguachile is quite small, considering the price. The Brussels sprouts lacked flavor.
On the positive side, the empanada was amazing, as were the mushroom tacos and fried cheese.
Update: The brunch menu is so good and tasty. The service was much better than our previous visit.

This restaurant is beautiful, the food and cocktails are delicious. We really liked the lamb shoulder, definitely order tortillas and make some tacos. My wife and I split the lamb after having a few smaller plates. The tangerine augachile, a hamachi crudo type dish, was my favorite. I really liked the sweet and tangy play of flavors. The wait staff were really nice and engaging. The cocktail menu was great very good drinks are being served by excellent bartenders. And the bartender was kind enough and skilled enough to make an adjustment on one of the menu cocktails. Super accommodating of them. Super chill vibes, definitely returning.

I live down the street and have been to Hellbender about at least 10 times só far. I’ve gotten the steak, lamb, tacos, chicken milanesa, almost all of the appetizers and many of the drinks and desserts. I’ve been for brunch and I could not recommend this place more. The chicken is my all time favorite dish and I think I day dream about it a few times a day every day. It comes with this banging green sauce and we always get the rice on the side and OMG you guys are doing everything right. I can’t wait to keep coming back. 1000000/10!!!

Hellbender is an absolute culinary delight. Continuing Rolo’s tradition of perfectly prepared and seasoned food, Hellbender sets itself apart with its distinct menu of traditionally inspired but modernly (Is that even a word?) made regional cuisine.
Service is prompt and efficient while remaining completely unobtrusive. Apps and drinks were on the table in record time even though the dining room was full. Everything was fresh and vibrant and bursting with flavor. Being this full on a Wednesday night is no coincidence. It’s only a matter of time before Hellbenders garners the same reputation for quality as its sister location.
Places like this remind me why I decided to become a chef.

From the moment me and friend walked in we felt like “yeah we’re about to have a good meal and good time.” Our waitress Lillian made our entire 1st time experience simply amazing. She was so personable, warm and explained the menu/drinks 👌🏾. The fried Oxacan cheese - 10/10, the roasted mushroom tacos - 10/10, himachi dish - 10/10, 3 cheese empanada 10/10, lamb dish - a little gamey for my palette, but still good 7.5/10 and the drinks -10/10. Even though it was crowded it was still comfortable - we will definitely be returning for their famous brunch and dinner again and again! Hellbender is top tier!

This is my 2nd time here (previously came for dinner). After a while of seeing their popular pancakes online I decided to return for brunch and it did not disappoint. We waited no more than a few minutes to get seated (walk in). The staff was lovely, the drinks were great, and the food was amazing. Not to mention, great tunes playing throughout the restaurant.
We had fried oaxacan cheese, castelfranco salad, heirloom masa pancakes, and mega thick cut bacon.

Dinner here was fantastic. Mushroom tacos are great as is the Chicken (and rice and beans of course) Not the typical Mexican restaurant menu so if you’re looking for more traditional I would go elsewhere.

Great food - the crispy lamb was one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth, and very accommodating staff. Totally recommend.

We ordered several small plates / appetizers for brunch and shared them. Literally every one was delicious. In total we had about 9 or ten different plates, from guac and chips to mega thick cut bacon (pictured) apple pear salad to enfrijoladas and more. Probably the best meal so far of our visit to Brooklyn. Don’t miss it!

Dinner was a lack luster. The best thing to order are the mushroom tacos, the carrots in the tostadas could be softer and use less sauce. Don’t order the chicken Milanese or the steak. Both came out burnT. Brussels sprouts also very burnt. You really shouldn’t be eating burnt food, that causes cancer. bill was close to 200$ which is underwhelming for a sub par experience
