Bit more than a year ago my wife spotted this restaurant on a bus through to LGA. We finally had the chance to give it a shot just yesterday. Day before a blizzard, always is a great time for good eats.

Aside from ourselves there was only 1 other couple, but again it’s mid day before a blizzard. The restaurant is decorated perfect IMHO. Without being anything over the top I felt it was a very nice balance of dark, old, new and modern - where needed. I really liked the feel and the space.

The food - finally my first momo platter. Again being a vegetarian it’s hard to come by. It was insanely good. Nothing like ordering “dumplings” if U ask me. But so much more wholesome dough, filling, and fresh herbs. And the 2 sauces were intensely different from any other condiment I’ve ever had.

We also ordered an amazing black tea with honey lemon ginger - my fav. And paneer chilli, and aloo timur. Both just as great with no oily, greasy, saltiness to it and fresh herbs and spices.

At the end we caught up with some small talk with the young woman who served us and said bye til we come here again - debility for the jhol momo and the brunch platters next.

Made the trip from Times Square to this restaurant hoping to treat my family to quality Nepali food, but it turned out to be a HUGE MISTAKE. There were several issues with our experience. The waitress addressed us as “Timaru,” which is quite disrespectful in Nepali culture, especially when speaking to customers you’re meeting for the first time. Throughout our meal, no one checked in to ask how our food was—the service felt completely impersonal. And finally, I’ll let you judge for yourself whether this portion of fried rice is reasonable for what we paid. AVOID!!!

So glad we tried this fairly recent addition to the Charlotte restaurant scene!!! The menu contains a wide offering of Indian and Nepalese dishes(including many vegetarian and vegan options), the food is delightful and flavorful (and seasoned according to your “heat” tolerance!) and the service is prompt and attentive. Lastly, Kasthamandap is a small business that serves great food at a great value and is deserving of your support and patronage!

I had a wonderful experience at Kasthamandap. The food was delicious — I especially loved the masala fries, they were absolutely amazing! Everything we ordered was very good and full of flavor.
Our server Sandhya(Sandy) was incredibly kind, attentive, and made the experience even better with her contagious laugh. The ambience was beautiful and welcoming, truly living up to the meaning and feel of the name Kasthamandap.
I’ll definitely be coming back again and highly recommend this place!

Everything was great. The food was delicious and truly tasted like authentic Nepali flavors. The ambiance was very pleasant, and even if you’re sitting alone, it doesn’t feel boring because of the nice Nepali music playing in the background. The cocktails were also excellent and tasted great. Overall, a wonderful experience with great food, drinks, and atmosphere

Amazing place for authentic Nepali food! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The food tastes fresh and flavorful everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and full of traditional Nepali flavors. The bar is also a great addition, with good drink options to enjoy with the meal. It really feels like a little taste of Nepal away from home. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to try Nepali cuisine or enjoy a relaxed evening with great food and drinks!
