I had an amazing time at this speakeasy! My group of 4 had a reservation.I think the expectations are pretty clear- if you expect to walk-in to an exclusive speakeasy, go early; if you're wish to go later, get a resy. People will be turned away if they're at capacity, especially if a big reservation is booked. It doesn't matter if your friends are inside- they have to follow code. The vibe is REALLY fun- it feels like a swanky house party with awesome music and drinks. I think the service was great for how busy it was. I only drank is beers, but my friends had fun cocktails and shots. Everyone is so friendly. They also put a gratuity charge on larger party's bills, so that's helpful.I love speakeasies. Cannot recommend RRLIC enough!

Sadly this place is getting really ghetto. Food is subpar, music is hit or miss depending on the DJ and service and staff are just the worst. After enjoying our time here the first time in December, I decided to plan a small event here for a small group of friends. Despite booking weeks in advance WITH a required deposit, we were left waiting for our seats and had to find servers ourselves. Imagine telling your guests to arrive early because of their strict reservation policy- for the lounge to not even seat you on time for a planned event! Not to mention, no one wanted to purchase drinks at the bar while waiting because they were strict on only ordering through our server to avoid an additional bill. There was so much time wasted for our 3 hour event. At the end of the night I noticed on our bill they waived the cake slicing fee of $18- I assume from the lack of service at the start of our event. Wow, thank you record room for waiving $18.Additionally, the crowd here seems to attract people inclined to start conflict rather than a chill ambiance we experienced before. A group of girls threatened us because we were “too close” to their area (this was close to midnight when the lounge is at its peak). This type of environment was also confirmed by another friend who attended Easter weekend and told me a fight broke out and those people needed to be escorted out of the lounge.Prior to writing this review I reached out to the event coordinator about the issues we faced with hopes they would find ways to improve their services. I have yet to receive any reply or acknowledgment of their faults.

90s hip-hop and chill vibes, with adequate space to sit or dance. Can't really beat that.

Definitely didnt have the best experience overall because staff is slightly rude. From check in to waitress… everyone has a slight attitude.Concept of the lounge and ambience was great.Make sure you have a reservation before you go.Prices and table service vary based on who you know.

Black male experiencing discrimination at a black owned bar? Sounds crazy right? Let me break it down for you.We go in without a reservation with my non-black girlfriend, male host has a few open tables, so we grab one.A female, who I presume to be the manager, comes up next to him to let us know that the table is booked for an hour later. Perfectly understood. Here’s where it gets odd…. An all black couple behind us also doesn’t have a reservation, and make it known, and they also take a table. Nothing wrong with that.Until we realize only we were given a “time limit” due to a “reservation” and not them. We spend nearly 200 dollars, they had a round of drinks and sat there. We end up getting kicked out. On top of that, we’re met with an intense amount of rudeness from this woman, as if we did something wrong when we didn’t.Cool spot for sure, but put that woman in check. She knows who she is.

Waited two hours just for them to say they’re no longer accepting people. And we watched them let people in while they were texting us that there are no more rsvp. This place not for the public at all. Bouncer was playing favorites while also complaining about it being over compacity.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with this lounge. Before I came I contacted record room and asked if I needed a reservation. They said that I could book on a website that they sent me and that even if I didn’t rsvp we could still come but come before 9 or 10 when they normally reach capacity. We arrived a little over 8pm and was told there would be an hour and forty five minute wait. They took our name and number where they would text us when it was time to come back. They suggested that we go across the street to eat at their sister restaurant. An hour and forty five minutes went by and still no text message so we decided to go back. We were then told that they weren’t letting anyone else in and that there was no guarantee that they were ever going to let us in. This should have been told to us beforehand. We could have made other plans for our trip to NYC. We weren’t told before our trip and we weren’t told when we arrived there. Very unprofessional. I’m afraid to even try record room again or any other establishment in NYC. A lot of money and time was spent driving there.

Visited on 3/28/2024 and they no longer have happy hour. Got the paper plane and manzanita and they were 85% ice. Paper plane was very sweet for a bourbon drink. The manzanita was stronger and tasted quite good. We also ordered the truffle fries and they were steak fries with truffle oil and Parmesan. Overall, vibe was great and service was amazing.

The Record Room in LIC is a hidden gem that lives up to the hype. It's a fantastic speakeasy with a cool, intimate vibe, perfect for a date night. The cocktails are creative and delicious – I highly recommend the mezcal options. They also have a great selection of finger foods and the music selection is on point. If you're looking for a unique and stylish bar in LIC, the Record Room is definitely worth checking out.

Horrible customer service. We got there and the guys said there was a 1:30 wait time. My girl wanted to wait inside while I got the car because it was super cold and she was in a dress, he made her wait outside next to a homeless.

Came here last Thursday, Very cute vibe and the music was amazing. Absolutely a place I would come too again for a girls night. Drinks were good but they only have finger food which was good as well.
