Whenever I'm at the Rockaways, a visit to Rocco's is a must. The rigatoni bolognese is absolutely incredible, and you can't miss out on their refreshing frozen limoncello drink.

This authentic Italian restaurant is considered one of the best-kept secrets on N.Y.C. and Long Island. The owners have assembled a high-quality staff, including Chef Bruno, formerly of Il Mulino Chelsea, and their master Pizzaiola, Angelo. All of their pastas are made fresh, and their entrees remind guests of what is expected in the finest restaurants in Italy. The colossal Veal Valdostano is praised as one of the best ever tasted. The pistachio cannoli is also unforgettable. Many visitors appreciate that the food is flavorful and made with quality ingredients, especially highlighting the pizza sauce. Service is friendly, with staff contributing positively to the experience. Guests often mention the warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it a place worth visiting.
However, some reviews mention that the penne with vodka sauce is not the best they've had, and the portion sizes do not match the prices. One guest noted that the fried food was placed in a plastic container without ventilation, which affected their overall impression. Despite this, if in the neighborhood, many feel it's an okay spot to visit, especially for pizza and casual dining. The staff, including Vinny, are praised for their customer care, with efforts made to ensure everything arrives hot, fresh, and delicious.
